“Newt Gingrich did acknowledge that he will need to consider whether to continue his campaign. “Governor Romney is going to have a very good night,” Gingrich said, going on to say that if Romney becomes the nominee, then every Republican needed to stand behind him.

“Over the next few days, we’re going to look, realistically, at where we’re at,” he said, promising to continue to campaign in North Carolina this week. “We’re also going to think about how we can be most helpful to this country.”

Vin, we fought hard for Newt. Know he is the best man for the job and the best candidate since Reagan. The establishment beat us via their massive media campaigns on Fox, Drudge, Super Pacs and incessant attacks on Newt.

Yes we did...I'd like to think some of those who came out to vote in my district were folks I had spoken to, even though the turnout was so low.

And I think it was more than just that which you listed which prevented Newt's coming back up...there was some serious arm-twisting going on as well..pay-backs etc. for endorsements etc. Not to mention Romney throwing his bottomless money machine around at every turn.

Take him at his word. Newt says he will campaign, and he will talk to his donors. I’m sure that’s what he’ll do. If he thinks he has a chance in NC, and if he thinks he can find money— he may stay the course.

He left himself an opening- the necessity that the GOP platform is conservative. He’ll fight for that- if he gets the backing.

Day to day- he’s in for now.
