But of course, Iran miscalculates. The Ayatollahs aren't considering the industrious, can-do attitude of the American people. Why, they'll crank out WW II style low-tech armaments so fast, you won't have time to say "Jihaad!" or "Occupy Wall Street"/s

If an EMP goes off we’ll be living in a police state, as technology reappears it will be distributed strategically and selectively to maintain the same -forever.

The EMP description is laughable.
It will kill... wiring fires, computer systems running dangerous industrial processes will allow clouds of toxic gas to go out, or pressure builds that will trigger massive explosions. Nuclear plants would melt down as well.
Plus, there is a lot of gamma radiation, and fallout is still present.
All in all, a nuke of any kind is nasty, if it has a fission core.
Maybe one day we’ll have clean nukes... but we will also have fusion power at that point as well.
Finally, I don’t want to be hit by a clean or dirty nuke :)

Oh, there’d be more than enough stuff left to turn that entire area to lumpy glass.

An EMP weapon that wipes out electrical distribution, water distribution, computers that allow purchase of food, fuel and necessities will kill plenty of people. Some immediately due to industrial malfunctions. Many more via starvation as the means to replenish supplies on hand are gone. Rioting and looting in the streets to seek resources will add to the carnage.

Anything that we would use to respond to a WMD attack would not be effected by any EMP the Iranians could build and deploy.

Once again North Korea's latest missle "failed," or did it? How far does it really have to go if it is designed to go from Iran to Saudi Arabia? One stage will do, and that's about the performance of these North Korean missles.
I disagree with a couple of things though. The first is it will take some time to figure out what happened. It probably won't. It is a simple thing to keep pinging all network nodes in the gulf, and any disruption can be mapped and the scale derived by the nodes which go down.
Second, we are not sharia compliant. And yes, I believe we will lob nukes at that point, at least at the Iranian port cities to buy time.

Watch Rumors of War III (Glenn Beck documentary). There are enough members of the Muslim Brotherhood in our government to do plenty of damage without Iran’s help.
