Killing offspring is the crux of this issue, af vet. That is why I am BOTH pro-life AND pro-DELIVERY.
I oppose abortion to save the life of the mother, and many are aghast at that position. But let me explain the PRO-DELIVERY distinctive.
Abortion is, by definition, an act of killing. The babies are cut in pieces, have the brains evacuated, are salinated, or sometimes are left to die unaided or dumped in some trash bin.
Delivery is, by definition, an effort to bring a child into this world alive and then to provide all necessary resources to keep it alive, if possible.
In a "life of the mother" case, I would support herculean efforts to deliver and assist the baby no matter the stage of development. That is the pro-delivery distinctive. The "abortion in the case of life of mother" is focused on KILLING the infant. Pro-Delivery is focused on preserving the life of the infant.
ALL abortion is, therefore, homicide. All deliveries -- EVEN unsuccessful attempts -- are efforts to PRESERVE.
Such a position, pro-life/pro-delivery, would eventually push even earlier the time of viability of our young, so that we can imagine preserving life through miraculous efforts from the earliest stages of life onward .
Pro-Delivery perspectives highlight the truth about late-term abortion in which a murder clearly takes place. Pro-delivery would clearly show that the ability to both deliver and preserve would be near 100% successful.
I cannot let this pass without commenting. I had a tubal pregnancy years ago and the only option was to terminate the pregnancy.
I did not kill my offspring nor did I commit homicide. That baby was not going to survive either way. Pro-delivery at 6 weeks gestation is never an option.
