As California Collapses, Obama Follows Its Lead (all but billionaires being driven out)
Daily Beast ^ | 4/27/12 | Kotkin

California’s slow-motion tragedy could end up as a national one, warns Joel Kotkin.

Barack Obama learned the rough sport of politics in Chicago, but his domestic policies have been shaped by California’s progressive creed. As the Golden State crumbles, its troubles point to those America may confront in a second Obama term.

From his first days in office, the president has held up California as a model state. In 2009, he praised its green-tinged energy policies as a blueprint for the nation. He staffed his administration with Californians like Energy Secretary Steve Chu—an open advocate of high energy prices who’s lavished government funding on “green” dodos like solar-panel maker Solyndra, and luxury electric carmaker Fisker—and Commerce Secretary John Bryson, who thrived as CEO of a regulated utility which raised energy costs for millions of consumers, sometimes to finance “green” ideals.

Obama regularly asserts that green jobs will play a crucial role in the future of the American economy, but California, a trend-setter in the field, has yet to reap such benefits. Green jobs, broadly defined, make up only about 2 percent of jobs in the state—about the same proportion as in Texas. In Silicon Valley, the number of green jobs actually declined between 2003 and 2010. Meanwhile, California’s unemployment rate of 10.9 percent is the nation’s third highest, behind only Nevada and Rhode Island.

When Governor Jerry Brown predicted a half-million green jobs by the end of the decade, even The New York Times deemed it “a pipe dream.”

And without government coercion and theft from other areas of the economy, they would be a vanishingly small percentage.

Green energy has VERY limited applications, and the ENTIRE recycling industry is an inefficient, ineffective, expensive sham.

Wow...check out the comments....lots of conservatives/republicans commenting on the Daily Beast site...

I know it is completely anecdotal, but judging by the “mood” of the various comment sections I have read the last few weeks, Obama is in deep, deep trouble...

I am noticing the same thing. On Huffpo, if you can stand it, you can now register and post the truth about Obama and not get thrown off. I'd bet half the posts there are now negative about he and Wookie. I know they are just trying to keep the hits up...but this just wasn't the case, even 3 months ago.

Now, after the Fallon show....I'm beginning to smell flop sweat on him and the dopes in the MSM. After his “performance” the other night Chris Mathews and his crew were just falling all over themselves with tingles up their legs. The called him “cool” and used the word “swagger” about 100 times in 5 minutes. AND, they look just a tad desperate.

I'M LOVING IT! To see this fraud exposed is my dearest wish now...and I do believe it's going to happen.

A lot of us are commenting on all sorts of “liberal” sites. We are making our voice heard. We are in a serious battle of ideas. We need to show our numbers, as well as our superior debate style (we actually use logic and avoid ad-hominem).

behind only Nevada

...and just who was it crushed, IIRC, NV as a destination? Can’t imagine Harry letting that go by, or how Harry was reelected.

___________

That’s the key. Think Paul Clement in the Arizona hearings...even Sotomayor was agreeing with him. Liberals are shocked that Republicans/conservatives have arguments that they can support with facts. If we represent them in a strong, but polite way...some (not all) of the liberals will change their tune...especially as they get older, start businesses, and raise families,

If only the collapse could be isolated to California and the libs who caused it.

If only the consequences of liberalism would affect, acutely, those who support it.

We’re in CA and on the way down here, we picked up a San Luis Obispo newspaper with a front page article about how the Sierra club was withholding endorsement of a long time Sierra Club politician because he supports the construction of a solar power plant in the valley.

So, now Californians not only oppose nuclear power and coal power, they don’t want solar either, at least not in their own back yard.

The Country Club Democrat Californians are happy to see people leave the state. The highways will support their limos for another twenty years, so why worry. They like having fewer of “those people” on “their” roads and beaches.

I spend more time than ever commenting on other websites. Preaching to the choir is great but reaching the unchurched has more impact.
