Issa, Boehner at odds over holding Holder in contempt of Congress
The Daily Caller ^ | 04/27/2012 | Matthew Boyle -

Posted on 04/27/2012 9:54:00 AM PDT by george76

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa has drafted a 48-page contempt of Congress citation for Attorney General Eric Holder over Operation Fast and Furious. It now appears Issa is currently moving forward without the support of House Speaker John Boehner.

Holder’s Department of Justice has provided only about 7,000 pages worth of the more than 70,000 pages of documents Issa has subpoenaed related to Operation Fast and Furious.

Issa and many others on Capitol Hill have threatened for months that they’ll hold Holder in contempt without actually doing it. This 48-page contempt citation is the first official step in moving forward with contempt proceedings.

To actually effectively hold Holder in contempt, Issa would need House GOP leadership to play ball. At this point, it appears as though House Speaker John Boehner is only partially in his court.

> “ How in the hell do we get rid of this worthless, useless, spineless ba$tard? “

Answer: by continuing to grow the Tea Party numbers so that they can elect a Speaker that is of their philosophy.

Boehner knows that he is toast if the TP gets larger. So he and the establishment must fight the TP for their political survival.

In other words, Civil War within the GOP is playing out. This is why the GOP establishment backs Romney because that is where the funding is to fight the TP influence. For Boehner to keep his job and all establishment members to keep their perks, they need $$$ and the RINO donors are the $$$ that is available to them.

But Boehner and Romney and so many other establishment types can easily fool you by looking you in the eye and saying everything your conservative mind wants to hear. They are very deceptive except when it’s time to vote, then it becomes clear what they are.

It has been widely reported here at FR that Boner commanded Issa to put the Fast and Furious investigation on hold. Although of course you won’t read about any of this in the media.

So, this is nothing new. . . .

Except that Issa has evidently been preparing a 48-page contempt of congress citation, and is now publicly talking about bringing it forward.

This could be a defining moment. There’s no doubt that Boner will order Issa to cease and desist, on pain of losing Boner’s support. OTOH, if Issa refuses to oblige, and goes ahead with it, will Boner be able to stop the momentum that will produce? He certainly will if he can. Much depends on whether the conservatives in congress decide that it is time to revolt against Boner, who has basically been working for Obama ever since the last election, despite all those Tea Party victories.

Boner must go. But that will only happen if a large majority of Republican congressmen finally agree that it is time to throw him out of his leadership chair. This could be an important enough issue to produce such a result.

We’ll see.

Does this worthless POS have a conservative challenger in Ohio dist 8? How about any Republican challengers? Boener should be on everyone’s “replacement target” list. Does he have a Rat challenger? It would be worth it to support anyone who runs against him, even a Dem.

And until now, we, (Free Republic,) are the only ones who have been posting it. If we don’t get a new speaker, nothing is ever going to be resolved.

Been posting this for months..

But this time Issa will get really, really, really, really mad. As many of us posted here after the 2010 wave, that Boehner would do everything he could to marginalize the TEA Party and would in general be worthless to the cause.

The lessor of two evils never reduces evil. But hey they have the coveted (R) beside their name so they must be better than the hated (D)

He is not the only one, there are about 4 more just like him in line to move up, their bench is deep.

McConnell in the Senate is no better. Imagine, if Romney wins and the Republicans capture the Senate, the lineup will be Romeny, Boehner and McConnell. Does anyone really believe these three will fight to repeal Obamacare or balance the budget? Will these three cut the fraud in Social Security disability or food stamps? Will these three slash the Education, Energy, HHS, HUD, Labor, and Agriculture departments?

It will be business as usual, just as it was during the eight years of George W. Bush. Plus every night the media will be screaming the Republicans are killing babies, mistreating women, and discriminating against minorities while polluting the air and water. Like Bush, Hastert and Frist these three Republican “leaders” will lie down without a fight.

“Boehner would do everything he could to marginalize the TEA Party”

Sorry. The tea party congressional reps marginalized themselves when they accepted romney money and boehner’s bait and switch.

My plan is to vote out every incumbent; both in the primary and in the general election. In my case I will be voting out a RINO (LoBiondo) but he deserves to be voted out. I have written him several times and I have never received an answer. I’d sooner have a rookie congressman even if he’s a RAT. If everyone does this they just might get the message who their boss is.

Trent Lott and the antics of the Republicans is the reason I am no longer a republican. They are spineless. It’s really just a good ol’ boy thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if Boehner and Pelosi are regular lunch partners.

Boehner clearly has no stick.

Seriously, what is with him? Why is he so soft on an administration that has so clearly acted in every way to weaken this country, both internally and externally? More to the point, why do House Republicans tolerate this milquetoast?

Time for Boehner to go.
