Many Americans view the bailouts of General Motors and Chrysler more favorably these days, believing incorrectly that the government made money or broke even on them. But the view grows a lot more negative when the actual price tag is attached.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 20% of American Adults now believe the government made money on the billions in taxpayer dollars given to the two automakers to keep them afloat, while 19% more say the government broke even. However, a plurality (46%) recognizes that the government lost money on the auto bailouts. Fifteen percent (15%) are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
This survey of 1,000 Adults nationwide was conducted on April 23-24, 2012 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology
There. Now NBC cherry-bomb journalism can spin the reporting to denounce the "horrible racism" of America. Oh.. when will it end? When.. wot? It will end when screaming "RACISM!!" is no longer lucrative?
The Auto Bailouts of 2008-2009 will be an effective issue against Obama in the 2012 election, especially among those in the vast majority of the American population which are living on the brink of homelessness and starvation and received no such bailout.
Or, put another way: 41% are completely clueless Obama syncophants!
DETROIT -
General Motors has unveiled plans to bring two new Cadillac models to China, the brands second-largest market.
The XTS luxury sedan and ELR luxury electric coupe will help expand the brands model portfolio in a luxury vehicle market that grew by 39 percent in 2011. The XTS luxury sedan, the most technologically advanced production car in Cadillacs history, will be manufactured and distributed in China by Shanghai GM. It will go on sale at Cadillac dealers nationwide in the fourth quarter of 2012.
China has quickly become the fastest-growing market for Cadillac. Last year, sales rose by 73 percent - Introducing the XTS now is part of the strategy of adding one new model per year to the Cadillac lineup in China through 2016 to address the needs of luxury car buyers.
Is anyone here a Rasumussen subscriber?
I’m interested in what the response to question 4 (the one about whether ordinary bankruptcy procedures would have been better), but the publicly available stuff doesn’t seem to have the results of that question.
Romney ought to also bring up all the profitable auto dealerships that were forced to close and the ripple effect of that.
And I’ll have to learn to spell it correctly!
