Hospitals are running out of vital drugs to treat high blood pressure, asthma and Parkinson’s disease because they are being sold abroad. At least 19 NHS trusts across England have written to the Department of Health since September to warn of shortages, according to figures obtained by Labour MP Keith Vaz. There are concerns that drugs manufactured in Britain, meant for NHS patients, are being sold to EU countries by wholesalers and pharmacists. (Snip) Although the practice is not illegal, the Government has condemned it as unethical and there are concerns that patients are being put at risk.

That sort of thing is already happening here. There was a time period last year when the hospital where I work had to approach local pharmacies for Oxycodone, Morphine, and several other ‘common’ drugs because we ran out and couldn’t get any from our suppliers.
Couldn’t patients fill their Oxycodone prescriptions on most street corners?

Exactly. And if this thing does pass, the libs will be the first ones to complain about the crappy medical care they’re going to get.
I read recently that 95 percent of physicians are against Obamacare, believing it will result in inferior medical care for their patients. The only ones who are for it are those teaching or in academia.
Time to stock up your medicine cabinets. Reorder at 3 week intervals rather than at the one month mark. Add an extra dose by claiming you spilt the regular bottle.
Something weird is happening with generic drugs even in this country. Apparently the major drug companies have found various legal, political, and regulatory methods to shut down, limit, or just buy out the generic makers to decrease competition for their much more expensive patented alternatives. This has been going on for some time but seems to have become dramatically more effective lately.

My guess would be that companies are finally being fed up with being sued every time there is an untoward effect whether it has been warned about in the literature or not. Darvocet, a mild pain relief agent that has been on the market since at least the 60’s is, apparently, one of the latest drugs to be pounced upon by the legal sluts.
