To the Sierra Club: PROVE IT!
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
I wish these scum would move out of my town.
Cove Point production started going down after Jimmah’s brother Billy messed with Libya during the early 80’s and they cut off the LNG supply. Toured the facility back then. There’s an underwater tunnel that goes for about a mile to the ship terminal. Had to ride a bicycle through the tunnel to get to the terminal.
The Good News: When the domestic price of natural gas goes up substantially, wind, solar, and nuke power will be more competitive in price.
Sure, why not, the environazis have been putting Cove Point off for years. Back in 2003 Dominion hired Hubby and a bunch of others, and then rapidly had to unhire them when environazis delayed the beginning of construction. Oh and DON’T FORGET TO THANK A DEMOCRAT. That’s Obama’s base.
...plans by energy giant Dominion to build the first natural gas liquefaction and export facility on the East Coast, a site that would handle booming supplies from the Marcellus Shale and other vast deposits for shipment to Asia and elsewhere...
Natural gas can dramatically cut our dependence on foreign oil, eliminate the need to clean up after Saudi Arabia in the Middle East, spur economic growth in this country and provide the equivalent of a tax cut to consumers.
This country has so much natural gas available it may be some time before the price recovers to the point alternative energy sources will be competitive.
I agree with the sentiment, but I'm pretty sure that almost all of our petroleum imports come from Canada and Mexico. To deal the Arabs and other malcontents a blow we would need to use the strategic oil reserve as a weapon against OPEC. Even though we get very little oil from them they control the global price with their cartel.
They’re not local.
Please tell me you don’t support government promotion of alternative energy. We need a level playing field, all energy sources taxed the same, none subsidized.
That’s a great idea. We should do our own oil cartel.
We should get something big out of it for all the suffering local communities put up with to host the industry. We should also work it out so that our resources help offset the debt. It should not just go straight into the global market place and do nothing for the US. And if it does not do ALOT, forget it. We’ll be wasting it and it is a terrible burden on people who live around it.
God bless you Mr. Farrell!!!
This is one of the few courageous corporate executives that is moving ahead on the basis of what's right and proper for the people of Maryland and of America!!!
What was it Churchill said? Something like we shall fight them in the air and on the sea. We shall fight them on the land and in the fields, etc., etc...
Most CEO's are so steeped in pragmatism that they eagerly settle or head for a public relations consultant and get nowhere for decades while the Sierra Flub sues under the so-called "Private Attorney General" provision that puts the fat lady on the side of the "EnvironMental scale of justice" which is what gives rise to the knee jerk pragmatism of CEO's!!!
The Pagan EnvironMentalists have totally violated the concept of "separation of church and state" in this once great nation!!!
They are headquartered in my home town and we have a million enviro groups here who don’t want anything done. So we sit in traffic because it takes ten years to get a bridge OK’ed.
The article calls it “little used”, but it’s a pretty big facility, able to handle all but the very largest new super LNG tankers. It might even be able to handle those, maybe.
The Sierra Club is located in Michigan.
We have had a bridge in my hometown stalled for 10 plus years because of some endangered slug by the river it will cross. These nuts have been suing all this time to prevent it from being built. If you listen to the nuts at the sierra club they want to reduce the number of roads so they can cram people into cities. This lack of a bridge has caused traffic jams during rush hour where traffic is lined up for several miles in a city of around 15,000, and a county of about 85,000.
Some of the enviro’s are OK though as they buy up land with private funds. This I am OK with. The sierra club on the other hand use the courts ever time to get what they want it seems to me. If they can’t win in court they just drag it on and on till you can no longer afford to do what you intended to do.
Another thing they do is suck the public trough dry with one comity after another to finally not do what they wanted to because they spent all the money studying the problem. In other words funding their buddies.
But... but... it's settled science!
