Hollande and Sarkozy Trade Insults as Runoff Nears
The New York Times ^ | April 26 2012 | STEVEN ERLANGER

With accusations  of fascism and lying, incompetence and imbecility, the French presidential campaign has been one of the nastiest in memory. One legislator from the governing party even compared the partner of the Socialist challenger to a Rottweiler.

With only a week to go before incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy faces off against the favored candidate, the Socialist François Hollande, the insults are flying. Mr. Sarkozy is trying to make up the gap and win back the votes of the far-right National Front of Marine Le Pen, while Mr. Hollande is trying to stay above the fray with professions of national unity.

Mr. Sarkozy’s concentration on patriotism, protectionism, French values and his attacks on immigration and immigrants who do not assimilate into French life have prompted considerable contempt, returned in kind.      On Friday, the far-left candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who is supporting Mr. Hollande said that Mr. Sarkozy used language “directly taken from the collaboration” of Vichy France with Nazi Germany. He was referring to Mr. Sarkozy’s speech the day before in the suburb of Le Raincy, in which he spoke of his admiration of the police and said, “To be treated as a Fascist by a Communist is a compliment.”

Mr. Sarkozy has portrayed Mr. Hollande as incompetent, inexperienced and soft, someone whose economic policies would reduce France to the level of Greece and Spain. He has accused Mr. Hollande of “lying from morning until night” and asked, “Can you think of a single thing that François Hollande has achieved in 30 years of politics?”

When Mr. Hollande struck back after the harsher comments, Mr. Sarkozy mocked him. “When I say he lacks courage, perhaps that’s hurtful for one so sensitive,” Mr. Sarkozy said. “Frankly, can you imagine François Hollande as president, really?”

With the Left comparing Sarko to Pétain, Hitler, etc, and a Sarko staffer referring to Hollande’s live-in gurlfriend, Valerie Trieweiller as “Valerie Rotweiller” this story has not gone unnoticed:

TARIQ RAMADAN SUPPORT FOR HOLLANDE

Sarkozy said that Mr. Hollande had the support of “700 mosques” and Tariq Ramadan, a controversial Swiss scholar of Islam.

Ramadan, a Swiss born “expert” on Islam is the grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. He has called for putting shariah law in place that authorizes the stoning of women to death for adultery.

Sarkozy has not backed down on his allegation that the Swiss-born Islamic scholar supports the French Socialist candidate.
“When someone says we must defeat one candidate, it’s the same as supporting the other candidate, no?” quipped Sarkozy in a TV interview Thursday night.
In another interview earlier Thursday, the embattled French president insisted Ramadan had called on French Muslims to vote for Hollande “or a party that serves Islam” at a March 11 public meeting in the southern French city of Lyon.

I pray that the anti-Semitic, Jew hating Sarkozy loses big-time.

You want another country to bow to islam?

At least Sarkozy is trying to push back against Muslim takeover.

accused Mr. Hollande of “lying from morning until night”

“I’m going to win, and I’m going to tell you why. He’s not good, and people begin to see it. Hollande is useless! He is useless, you understand?”

“I’m a president who has failed for five years, I’m a nasty piece of work, but re-elect me, because in these hard times I’m the only one who can do it.”

likened Mr. Sarkozy to “a cross between Silvio Berlusconi and Vladimir Putin,”

Very good! Now if I can just fit in a line about being first out of the coal mines to the university...

Proof?
References?
Why would an Islamic-endorsed socialist be better for France?
Are you fixated?

THAT IS A LIE! This crosses the line of libel and character defamation. It just isn’t true.
If you actually read the article, or knew anything about France, you would know that the Jewish community in France, the third largest in the world, after Israel and the US, supports SARKOZY.

You’ve got the candidates mixed up. It is Hollande not Sarko who is the leftist associated with the anti-Zionist, anti-Semitic movements in Europe and the US.

To: Cincinna; All

This why does Sarkozy, just like Obama, have such great disdain for Benjamin Netanyahu?
