The Berlin police force is preparing to break in its new high-tech water-cannon monster-truck for the annual May Day protests in the German capital, with demonstrations and clashes expected to begin on Monday night.

...Despite the talk of restraint, the police force is prepared to introduce potential May Day rioters to their new "little friend" – the state-of-the-art water cannon truck "WaWe 10".

The four-metre-high colossus is armed with three cannon on the front and sides, which shoot water to a distance of 60 metres. Anyone who gets in the way can expect serious bruises and even broken ribs.

Now all they need to do is add some soap to it. That will really freak them out.

Despite the talk of restraint...

Yah that's the hallmark of the German use of weapons through the ages...

don’t knock it until you’ve seen a German riot up close and personal. this beats having officers wade into a crowd with sticks against rioters armed with stones, spray paint,
feces, ice picks, pipes etc..

this wasserwerfer would be just the thing for clearing, say, Pioneer Sq. in Seattle. Would also leave it somewhat cleaner..

So basically the younger, more leftist denizens of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain will be power-washed if they get out of hand.

Last year, in Kruezberg at least, it wasn’t too bad. I understand Friedrichshain got a little wacky near U-Bahnhof Frankfurter Tor however. Probably related to the eviction of the squatters at Lebigstraße 21. Thing is, there’s still plenty of squats in that area, so I don’t know what they were all fussing about.

This was park I went to in India where you could use their squirt-guns\water cannons to squirt at these monkeys held within these wall. Obviously, the monkeys knew about the water cannons, so they’d stay at the other end of the wall and you’d just waste your money if you tried to squirt them.

I remember that no matter how much coaxing or offering peanuts to them, nothing could get them to come towards the side with the squirt guns.

Then later in the day, when most of the people were gone, I saw the monkeys on the side of the water guns. I snuck up from behind the wall, and finally I squirted a big ugly one really good! LOL.

Oh Goody, It looks like they can compact the protesters after they drown them.

The new truck looks like it was designed by the same people who designed the American Aztek; the ugliest car ever made!

I agree. About fifty US cities will wish they had one or more of these before the year is out.
