Progressivity will remain in our tax code unless we go to some sort of flat tax or VAT to replace it. I don’t think there are too many politicians of any party that want to eliminate progressivity in our tax code.
Do you people understand what “progressivity” means? It means people who make more pay a higher percentage of their income in federal tax. Almost everyone agrees that those who have higher incomes should pay a bigger share of their income. Personally, I’d like to see us adopt the Fair Tax but that’s not going to happen. Neither is a Flat Tax likely. What Romney is saying is he’s going to fine tune the status quo, not destroy it. I don’t see what the problem is.
