With GOP nomination assured, Mitt Romney shifts to the center (The Etch a Sketch gets shaken)

Mitt Romney is shifting to the center to attract important voting blocs that he may have alienated in the bruising Republican presidential primary.

Romney has recently sought to ingratiate himself with voters in industry-heavy Ohio, women, Hispanics and college students by softening his tone on a range of issues.

Surprise, surprise: /s

“Here’s the situation they find themselves in. Policy is politics, and they have much ground to make up among first- and second-time voters, Hispanics, working-class whites, working-class women. They have to move away from the policy positions they felt they had to take to secure the 2008 nomination and the even more extreme positions they took to win the 2012 nomination,” said John Weaver, a political consultant who worked on Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) 2000 and 2008 presidential campaigns.

“I guess this is what an Etch A Sketch really looks like,” Weaver said, referring to a Romney staffer’s use of the children’s toy as a metaphor for the campaign’s pivot to the general election.

In this case its not so much a move to the center as it is a move left. Left is where ORomney’s comfort zone is. Hey, he’s our despot though so that makes it all good.

Mitt 0bamney was never RIGHT of Center. He can only be moving decidedly to the LEFT.

How can an avowed Socialist (see RomneyCare, the biggest defeat for personal freedom ever) be considered right of center in any fashion?

Only because while he’s a leftist, he’s not quite as far left as 0bambi himself.

So here we are: 0bama the Communist, and Romney the Socialist madly running towards Communism himself.

Congratulations, GOP.

Considering how far left Romney is .... does the title mean that he is moving to right?

Asking for Michael Bloomberg’s endorsement is not moving to “the center”, it is catering to the left..

By October, Romney will have effectively disassociated himself from conservatives and started adopting/promoting quasi-liberal policies. If elected, Romney will rapidly go hard left and the media will still be claiming that he's 'moving to the center'. Bottom line; we're screwed.

When did he ever move from center? These kinds of statements make me KNOW he’s on his own,and make me even more furious. Thanks, Republican Party for killing America!

In 2008, voters were promised the moon and the stars by a single man, and they believed the he could give them exactly what he promised. When Obama got into office, the proper American political process stopped him dead in his tracks. We aren’t run by an autocrat (yet). The people who voted for him, realizing that the American political process is holding him captive, organized into groups spouting excuses such as, “Republicans are racist” and “we are the 99%.”

Well now we have a “Republican” who claims to be conservative lurching to the Left. Many people unfamiliar with politics voted for Romney in the primaries believing his toe-the-line Republican establishment garbage. Now that he’s moving to the left, those voters are likely regretting their decision.

The point here is this: Romney hasn’t won squat. He does not have a plurality of committed delegates, and the convention is still months away. Fact is, the delegates don’t want to commit to Romney. The Republican establishment and the MSM are deliberately whitewashing the Republican race to force Romney down our throats. During the convention, it is my belief that the delegates will not throw their support behind Romney, and by that time, Romney will be so far out in Left field that true conservatives will realize he’s a plant and dump him on the side of a road.

In my opinion this is good. Romney and the MSM are playing their cards WAY too early. Even Obama is on the attack, and Romney is simply the “presumptive” nominee. He’s not the nominee yet. Let them hang themselves. Obama will continue to attack and lambast, and when the convention comes around, Romney will be so radioactive that delegates will plead for a brokered convention.

If he were “shifting to the center”, he’d be moving rightward., it’s more accurate to say that he’s moving even more leftward than he was in the primaries.

All Romney is doing is pissing off more and more conservatives, and while some liberals may appreciate his stances, they'll still vote for the real thing, Obama. So moving towards the left is a net loser for Romney. This is why GOP moderates, like Dole and McCain always lose.

It doesn’t surprise me that this turd would slide further down into the bowl. I just wish we could flush him and be done with him. He’s going to turn out to be in the poop water with his twin Obama.

God help us we are screwed.

Mitt Romney is shifting to the center

From the left? This would be an improvement.
