As the Susan G. Komen foundation gears up for its most high-profile event of the year, its Global Race for the Cure in Washington, Vice President Joe Biden will not be hosting a kickoff barbecue for the annual D.C. race, as he and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, have done in previous years.
Meanwhile, U.S. Congressman Mike Honda, who formed a team for the race last year that raised more than $10,000making him the top fundraiser on Capitol Hilltold The Daily Beast that he will not be participating this year, linking the decision to Komens move to cut funds to Planned Parenthood earlier this year amid pressure from Catholic bishops.
The Komen foundation quickly reversed its Planned Parenthood decision amid a backlash, but it has struggled since then, with some Komen affiliates around the country reporting declines in participants at spring races and other fundraising events.

They should learn a lesson: you give the liberals what they demand AND THEY OWN YOU. Komen should have never retreated from the decision to not fund the abortion-promoting Planned Parenthood. Now Komen has lost the support of conservatives like me and liberals have no incentive to really stick their necks out for them, since the leadership at Komen have shown that they will retreat immediately when challenged.
Komen’s struggles don’t upset me either. However for different reasons. This organization’s primary purpose seems to be perpetuation of itself, rather than helping to find a cure. The organization’s administration travels in high style wherever they go, leading me to believe that much of the money raised goes for high-dollar food and first-class airline seats.
This is why there needs to be conservative alternative to Komen, with a strict focus on breast cancer.
Their best way of making a big splash and quickly is to create a publication for those diagnosed with breast cancer. All subsidies would go to publishing this and mailing it to cancer patients and their families.
It would be filled with technical information that patients need to know about the dozen or so different types of cancer, information their doctors must obtain about the type of cancer and therapies available, a current list of ongoing research programs in need of volunteers, and research discoveries.
Since much of the research takes place in research nodes, particular cities, there is a big advantage to living in one of these cities, so it could also help provide “extended stay” accommodations.
Komen really has a lock on research, so this conservative organization could appeal to “getting the best treatment for breast cancer victims.”
Just thin of how many tens of millions Komen could have made from conservative and pro-life citizens if they had simply stuck by their decision to cut off the abortion vampires. Now they are screwed and hated by BOTH sides.

Komen has thrown their lot in with the devil-spawn Planned Parenthood. Let them accompany them to hell.
It’s funny that Komen caved and is back to supporting planned murderhood, but they manage to find one example where they are hurt instead by liberals who are too stupid to recognize they won, and are supposedly still punishing Komen.
I don’t know of any conservative, or even any moderate democrats who are pro-life, who are not mad at Komen now. Even those who could have cared less before are now acutely aware that Komen has put partisan politics above their stated goal of fighting cancer.
No doubt this is what has destroyed their fundraising (well, that and the Obamaconomy).
