Is it me or does this article seem schizophrenic, "a state characterized by the coexistence of contradictory or incompatible elements".

The following are the points within the article:
1. Greenland's glaciers are flowing at a slower pace than predicted,
2. Studies at the turn of the 21st century forecasted as much as a doubling of glacier velocity by 2010,
3. Observed acceleration indicates that sea level rise from Greenland may fall well below proposed upper bounds.
4. Though actual speeds were significantly less than predicted, they found the ice sheets moving on average 30 percent faster than a decade ago.
5. This leaves climatologists worried about threats of land loss to coastal communities worldwide.
6. We know sea level is going to rise, but how much, and how fast, and where, we really still don't know.
7. Geologic records prove ice sheets are capable of causing very rapid sea-level rise three to four times what we see today.
8. However, ancient sea-level rise cannot be attributed to human-caused global warming but instead bolsters the case of natural cycles driving climate variation.
9. The Greenland ice sheet was entirely absent about 850,000 years ago: therefore, even if Greenland's ice were to melt, its disappearance would be entirely within the natural variability of the climate.
10. Despite current slower-than-expected glacier velocities, researchers point out future speed could indeed exceed previous forecasts.
11. This 10-year time series is too short to really understand long-term behavior,
12. Warned that large glaciers have the potential to speed up significantly and "greatly increase the rate of sea-level rise.
13. Yet one of the world's leading experts on the issue says sea level rise is nothing but a myth. In fact, Mörner's 35 years of research have shown a drop in sea level in many areas of the world and revealed cherry-picking of data by the IPCC to show an annual rise.
14. IPCC's favoured experts had drawn on the finding of a single tide-gauge in Hong Kong harbor showing a 2.3mm rise. The entire global sea-level projection was then adjusted upwards by a 'corrective factor' of 2.3 mm because, as the IPCC scientists admitted, they 'needed to show a trend.
15. Though the UN blackballed Mörner on account of these findings, the reality is IPCC estimates of sea-level rise have nosedived from predictions of 3 feet per century in 2001 to about 2 feet per century in 2007 and now waver around 17 inches by 2100.
16. The historical record supports Mörner's assertion. One thousand years ago during the Medieval warming period, when global temperatures significantly exceeded current readings, there were no mass migrations inland to escape encroaching seas. As Robert Zurbin pointed out in his recent National Review editorial, Carbon Emissions are Good, during that time "oats and barley were grown in Iceland, wheat in Norway, hay in Greenland, and the vineyards of England produced fine wines as far north as York." Melting glaciers have also uncovered tree stumps and abandoned Viking settlements on Greenland’s coast.

What ever happened to true science? Oh right, grants.

I predict that tomorrow the Earth will rotate around the Sun and Spring will come forth, and then Fall, and then Winter and then...

Here's another prediction: Some regions on the planet will be hot; some will be cold. Any fluctuation of degrees depends on weather patterns from ocean temps and air streams, but mostly due to Sun activity.

But then, what do I know? I've only been around 62 years and saw the "population explosion" not kill off humankind.
I didn't see the "new ice age" as predicted back in the 1970's.
I also didn't see the "ozone hole" grow and radiate everyone.
I also didn't see "alcar apples" kill off millions.
I didn't see all boys and girls turn into one sex because we were told that it was about nurture over nature. Love the Times story when they discovered there is difference between males and females. How astute. My wife and I who have a son and daughter laughed and were amazed at the original sociologist dipshits who said no difference.
I also didn't see the bird flu kill millions.
I also haven't seen AIDS spread through the heterosexual community as warned.
I also haven't seen the Gulf turn into a big sludge mess due to the BP spill. Find some oil today.
I haven't seen the Caribou herds be decimated because of the Alaskan pipeline. However, there are photos of them thriving and actually hanging around the pipeline.

Latest, the Artic ice sheet is bigger than in the last 10 years, as reported just days ago. I thought the polar bears were going to drown, yet their numbers have increased over the decades.

Here's something for all to ponder: When was the last time you heard of any Florida resident complaining about rising sea levels? Much of Florida is at sea level or just above.

Need I go on?

See above.

Don't you hate getting older and maintaining your commonsense while the overly-educated academia parses, spins, adjusts, manipulates data to back their suppositions and hang on to outdated established doctrine?

Because of all the biased and ever-changing theories from climatologists, meteorologists, geologists, paleontologists, et al, I no longer even trust physicists. Seems like those wizards find a new theory every year based on new math calculations. Theory is the key word.

To paraphrase a line in the movie, Men In Black, "People once knew the world was flat; they once knew the Sun revolved around the Earth; they knew we were the only intelligence on the planet (think dolphins). Just think what we will know tomorrow".

Yet the astro-physicists think they get what the Universe is about? I'm sure in the near future, they will have a math equation to explain what they now call "singularity", the super condensed state of all matter that existed before the big bang, and what existed before it.

It amazes me that they prove each other wrong so often. But the latest theory is correct, right? Wrong, it will be proven incorrect next month. Einstein and Hawkings and others have been proven wrong, in part, in recent years, and they were the end all of physics.

Sheesh even physiologists can't agree what is the right amount of nutrients for the human body or even how certain enzymes work with certain hormones. Remember when they claimed that fats were bad, only to find later it was just trans-fats and olive oil and other plant fats are good?. Remember when cholesterol was the main culprit of heart disease, only to find later the difference between HDL and LDL proteins. Now, it's more about triglycerides that cause inflammation of the endothelial lining of the arteries/veins that causes plaque buildup. What next?

We have long been told that many ailments of old age are part of life and can't be changed, so just deal with. Then they found that hormone replacement therapy (now men included) can prolong life and quality of life. That I believe. You know why so few young men have heart attacks? It's because of high T levels. BTW, ole friend, it's never too late for HRT.

Yes, certain science disciplines have created a better life for mankind and I thank them. However, climatology is an inexact science and these brainiacs can't predict with absolute certainty what the temperature of a given town will be the next day. So we're suppose to jeopardize our standard-of-living on theories that may change next week?

Think I'll go caribou hunting since there are so many warming themselves next to the Alaskan pipeline. Best.
