Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Monday she hoped India will do "even more" to cut its purchases of oil from sanctions-hit Iran as there was adequate supply available from other countries such as Saudi Arabia.
Speaking in the city of Kolkata on a visit to India, Clinton said there would be a decision in about two months as to whether India would be given a waiver from sanctions over Iran oil purchases.
She also said she was apprehensive about the possibility of a conflict between Iran and Israel.

She should be. She and the ecvil bastard 0bama have been nothing less than a disaster in foreign policy.
Not a wise thing for Clinton to tell India what to buy and where to buy from. US doesn’t need another enemy to eff with.
Quite unlikely US is looking to make an enemy of India.
Since the Bush era, both of them appear to have quite closely aligned goals. There are still things both do that the other doesn’t like, (US supplying Pak, India buying from Iran etc etc) but eventually I see them working it out.
It was only a few centuries ago that France and UK were sworn enemies and now look at them. In retrospect, US and India are better placed in their inter-country relationship. Politicos will come and go, but the bureaucrats working in the background will be the ones who will be sealing this marriage. The Israeli lobby in the US is quite pro India and for certain has had a hand in playing match maker here.
India doesn’t need another enemy either, considering they are already surrounded by enemies.
I didn’t read India imposing sanctions on US. Besides US wasn’t always a friend anyways.
Personally I think US doesn’t have b***s to actually take on Iran so they impose sanctions on otherwise friendly countries.
I think you are too optimistic. I don’t see anything special about India and US relationship. People get carried away with political rhetoric. What Bush did between US and India was historic, but that’s only him. Don’t expect much from Republicans let alone democrats who despise India. Israeli lobby isn’t going to fix that, they have their own problems.
Hey if US wants to go after Iran, I am all for it! But if not, at least dont eff with India. That's the wrong country to screw with.
After decades of sanctions against India, Bush did all the hard work to lift those sanctions and accept India as a friend. And the Indians saw it as a new beginning. Now the Democrats came and put the sanctions back in place. How much faith do you think India will have on US now?
Perhaps.
But I see the indo-us relationship going to go the same way the franco-us relationship is. While allies and in NATO, France for the most part has a rather independent foreign policy unlike say, UK.
Case in point, when India conducted the nuke tests, it was the only NATO country that was against sanctions (and didnt impose any either). And also France wasn’t gogo and gaga for the 2nd Iraq invasion as well.
