Former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal is a doctor now.
O'Neal received his doctoral degree in education from Barry University alongside 1,100 other students during commencement ceremonies Saturday.
The Miami Herald ( http://bit.ly/KCwbej) reports that O'Neal got on one knee so the chair of Barry's organizational learning and leadership program could drape a light blue hood around O'Neal's more-than-7-foot frame.

It’s a private, Catholic college. Those don’t have tendencies to be soft on academic standards.

It would be a better World if more Professional athletes where cut from the same fiber as Mr. O’Neal.

Congratulations Dr. O’Neal. I was wondering when I heard this story as to whether he took a knee or they used a stepladder to get high enough to hood him. If only more professional sports alumnae would follow suit.
Shaq was at LSU the same time as I. Walking to class one day in the CEBA building, I noticed that I came up to his stomach. I’m still mad because he left as a sophomore. I remember yelling in Pistol Pete Assembly for just “One More Year.”
If you live in south florida, you would have heard of it. Its a respected, local, small, private school. Most private universities down here are dwarfed by the notoriety of the University of Miami, but there are small private univerities that aint half bad (Nova, Barry, Stetson..)
