Obama Has Lost His Speaking Mojo

Barack Obama's oratory skills may have helped him win the White House in 2008, but his speaking prowess could be a liability in this year's presidential election, says Sam Leith, author of Words Like Loaded Pistols: Rhetoric From Aristotle to Obama. Rhetoric is central to democracy, says Leith. "You win elections by talking to people, by trying to persuade them, not only on what you're going to do, but that you're trustworthy." And, he says, Obama talked his way into the Oval Office with "amazing speeches" that invoked Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr., and he even beat out the presumptive Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton. "He just spoke better than everybody else," says the former literary editor of the Daily Telegraph.[See a collection of political cartoons on Mitt Romney.]

“He stuttered and stammered and sprinkled his speeches with uh’s and er’s and nearly drove me crazy. I never could believe the hype about how great a speaker he is.”

And, now he is calling for “amens”.

What a loser...

“When a female M.D. a partner of my doctor tried to explain why obozo was good all she could say was “he's better than the last 8 years”. I made up my mind that if my doctor was unavailable there was no way I would go to her.”

I “fired” my G.P. when she told me, quiet loudly and with attitude, that she supported Obamacare.

Well that argument won't be happening between us anymore.

I have a chronic medical condition and have various specialists. Only the G. P. supported Obamacare - NO OTHER DOCTOR of mine did.

They ranged from sadness to rage over Obamacare to what it will do to their patients.

Not all doctors are greedheads or paying off med school debt - I've met a lot of doctors who truly want to do the best they can for their patients.

“I don’t honestly know how he can be taken as a serious or anywhere near eloquent speaker when he whistles his ‘S’ almost every time.”

I’ve noticed this, too. Especially when he pauses or when the “s” is at the end of a sentence.

He also uses the word “folks” in his speeches - a lot. Guess he is trying to say he is just a folk like them.

Ass.

“I REALLY hope that obama goes rogue and starts speaking his mind. C’mon there baraq, let loose. Go back to the only thing you know, community organizing. His media will cover every word and maybe a bunch more people will see this African dictator for who he really is.”

How I hope that Andrew Breitbart left some more videos that show the real Obama. Lots and lots of videos is my dream.

Yes.
There are two situations in which Obama excels:
In interviews and debates in which he simply blathers on tangentially to the topic in an air that conveys “don’t worry, I got this covered.” He rarely states what he plans to do, but implicitly promises he’ll do what’s best.

Then there are the speeches formerly crafted, nuanced. The delivery was practiced and expert. They were full of vague catchy phrases and slogans. He delivers like a star seminarian— timing, gestures and expression.

But like the old preacher said when some kids tracked up his newly poured walk: “’Love thy neighbor?’ that’s true in the abstract, but they were in my concrete!”

He’s in the concrete now.

The MSM is not really white dominated anymore...certainly not white male dominated.

plenty of the talking heads are but the newsrooms are not

they reflect minority hires as well as any college faculty

read Arthur McGowans Coloring the News for reference if you have time...

I walked into the Tennessean media floor one day and was shocked how it was vast majority women and minorities

then i started to understand more how Trayvon stories are framed
