Reports yesterday suggested the airplane ran out of fuel.
I thought they were saying that, after the plane failed to return to the airport at 3 hours, after what was supposed to be a flight of 30 minutes or so, they would have then been out of fuel. That's different from suggesting the cause might have been running out.
