"Twenty-one minutes after take-off, the crew asked for permission to descend from 10,000ft to 6,000ft, said Daryatmo." Interesting.

Sounds like that pilot got his flying training from a school of the same quality as the one that taught the Obamaloon his constitutional law.

Controlled flight into terrain. AKA “flying into a cumulogranite cloud.” That’s what it sounds like.

The tragedy for those that lost their lives is the first thing that needs to be acknowledged.
Add to that the personal devastation the extra excitement of a first flight. It went from the extreme of a celebration to a tragic event.

well. lemmesee... the mountains are at 7,000, pilot is descending to 6,000....
this is supposed to be some kind of ‘superplane’...
bet they were gonna demonstrate some gadget that would keep the plane from crashing in to a mountain...
if so, didn’t work.

“The aircraft was on a promotional tour dubbed the ‘Asian Roadshow’ which was aimed at lifting Russia’s hopes of emerging from its gloomy history of crashes involving ageing Soviet-era aircraft.”
The comments on the site indicate that it was likely the plane flew low to show off the mountains and terrain to it’s passengers. Sad. The plane might have been a good one but it was poor judgement on the part of the pilot. Poor safety culture is what they call it.
I do feel sorry for everyone who died, unneccessary. My condolences to those who mourn them.

Where have the grieving journalists been?
Whenever a journalist is killed reporting an event, especially war, a half dozen or more others interrupt their usual programming to commiserate.
If there had been jornalists on the plane, I would have expected to see tears from their comrades well before now.

really doubt that flying your plane into the side of a mountain will boost sales, but I could be wrong
