On Wednesday, I pointed out that Barack Obama’s so-called “all of the above” energy plan, as explained on his campaign website, had a very large omission. This graphic represented the energy policy on which Obama was campaigning for re-election:
In case the graph on the left isn’t clear enough, here it is by itself:
Oddly, the “all of the above” approach excluded coal, which sources 45% of all electricity produced in the US, sustains more than a half-million jobs, and allows for lower prices to consumers and businesses. After nearly losing in coal-dependent West Virginia’s Democratic primary to a felon currently in federal prison in Texas, suddenly Obama has “evolved” on energy policy, too, as Conn Carroll noticed at the Washington Examiner:
Michael Warren points out that the likely audience here isn’t West Virginia, but Pennsylvania and Ohio:
All topics are still available to read except for “fuel efficiency.” That’s been replaced by “clean coal.” The site touts Obama’s “10-year goal to develop and deploy cost-effective clean coal technology.”
Obama isn’t likely to win West Virginia this year–ever since George W. Bush won the state in 2000, it’s been in Republican hands at the presidential level. But consider that swing states like Pennsylvania and Ohio also have coal industries, and the change on Obama’s campaign website makes a bit more political sense.
Well, it only makes political sense if anyone believes that a second Obama term would be less hostile to coal than the first Obama term. Obama promised in January 2008 that his energy policies would bankrupt coal operators and make energy prices “skyrocket.” Treating coal as an afterthought in his campaign’s energy policy website demonstrates exactly how coal would get treated in a second Obama term, and this time voters in Pennsylvania and Ohio have plenty of first-hand experience with Obama’s war on that industry.
Encouraged (as opposed to mandated) efficiency is a valid point, isn't the left about going to notice that he's DROPPED an item?
power plants in Texas have been shut down. Last summer we had excess capacity at peak usage, this year we will have much less than we needed last year.
This means rolling blackouts.
Thanks Obama.
Laughable.
First, “evolved” is the new “flip-flop”. Thanks to Mr. Obama, we’ve improved the vernacular.
Second, “Wind”, “Solar” and “Bio Fuels” are and will be for the foreseeable future, even when combined; a tiny slice of the pie.
Third, nobody knows or can know if elevated CO2, regardless of the source (volcano, plant decay, ocean adsorption, or the SUV), is bad; long term for our future well being. To state otherwise is the height of hubris.
The whole thing should be labled, “Slime”!
President Pond Scum! The FUNdraising Panderer.
Hey, West Virginia:
Zero is playing Lucy and the football. After wrecking the coal industry, he promises that he will not yank the football when you try to kick it.
This is obviously a propaganda response to the West Virginia vote.
Yes he’s for coal, oil, and nuclear provided they abide by impossible regulations.
I’ll believe it when he jerks the chain on the EPA.
Now, combine that with festering racial tensions stirred up by the press and the liberal race-baiters and the entitlement mentality they've cultivated.
A blackout is the perfect time for a little DIY wealth redistribution. Once the looting and rioting get started, the fires won't be far behind and emergency services will be crippled by the power loss already. It could get really ugly.
Yep. I agree.
Actually, efficiency may not be valid. Sometimes increases in efficiency can INCREASE consumption.

Counterintuitive. Kinda like “More guns, less crime”.
As long as Obama is no longer up for election why does he care, how destructive his policy’s really are?
He will continue to deny the evidence and lie about it till the end of his days and then when the proof of implementation proves their self-destructive nature and he can’t get out it. He will either already be out of office or no longer standing for reelection.
To a democrat lying is part of politics. To their leftist conservatoires in almost all of the press, turning a blind eye to leftist lies is to them a part of their own job.
