Motor VoterYep. And most of the immigrants who are registered probably figured it must've been OK to do so since the nice lady at the DMV asked them if they would like to register to vote.
I'm a Florida resident and married to a legal immigrant. She's not registered to vote. She could get deported if caught voting in a federal election. She doesn't really care about American politics anyways.

The opyimum way to do this is have every voter register for every election year.

I don’t know about re-registering but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to send out confirmation letters to be sent back. On the other hand, I vote in some election at least once a year which requires ID.

How about making everyone register in person, ID card in hand for every election?

In Michigan our registration becomes invalid if we don't vote in two general election cycles. I'd cut it back to one.
We're effectively re-registering when we vote now anyway. I have to sign in and show my ID which is run through a strip reader that cross checks with the state voter ID rolls.

Want to see if anybody else picks up on this VERY IMPORTANT STORY. Note that way back in 2000/2001 folks thought the Democrats were commiting fraud by messing with the ballots ~ which was probably true ~ see; http://www.fraudfactor.com/fffl2kpreselection.html, but this later story tells us that the Democrats have been commiting fraud by registering aliens as voters. The spread here is about 400,000 votes ~ on the Democrat side. This discovery is enough to eliminate Democrats as a political party in much of Florida.
