Leak about UK involvement described as despicable by CIA as anger turns to Obama administration for compromising mission
Detailed leaks of operational information about the foiled underwear bomb plot are causing growing anger in the US intelligence community, with former agents blaming the Obama administration for undermining national security and compromising the British services, MI6 and MI5.
Mike Scheur, the former head of the CIA's Bin Laden unit, said the leaking about the nuts and bolts of British involvement was despicable and would make a repeat of the operation difficult. "MI6 should be as angry as hell. This is something that the prime minister should raise with the president, if he has the balls. This is really tragic," Scheur said.
He added: "Any information disclosed is too much information. This does seem to be a tawdry political thing."
Robert Grenier, former head of the CIA counter-terrorism centre, said: "In their place, I would think two and three times before sharing with the Americans, and then only do it if I had to. The problem with that dynamic is that you don't know what you don't know, and what opportunities you might be missing when you decide not to share. The Americans are doing a very good job of undermining trust, and the problem starts at the top."
Mustafa Alani of the Gulf Research Centre in Dubai told CNN that the bomber had been recruited by the Saudis to penetrate al-Qaida about a year ago, in part because the group would be attracted by the fact that his UK passport meant he could travel to the US without a visa.
The Saudi operation culminated with the agent and another Saudi informant likely his handler being whisked out of Yemen, Alani said.

If we get President Romney to replace 0bama, his first foreign policy priority is to repair our shattered alliance with the UK. Our current regime has gone out of its way to poop on the one reliable ally we’ve had for the past 60 years.
More soetoro islamism....
Allow me to repeat folks . . .

Hey President Abomination . . . The man most singularly responsible for identifying the location Bin Laden and Mr. Grenier just told the American Public you are the most treasonous piece of manure.
Maybe that's why they want permission to fly drones over here in America??? Maybe they have another target in mind??? you know . . . jus sayin
Obama would give away the “football” for votes
Loose lips not only sink ships they get people murdered and destroy assets far beyond immediate political values.
If you want to find the leak just drop by 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in D.C., ask for Barry.
Why would the Saudis and the Brits disclose sensitive information to a known traitor? Both countries have their internal problems, but both also have capable intelligence services that should have known to keep the United States out of the loop until January 20, 2013. Even if we had to be told something, American access to each individual detail from the whole story should have been determined on a need to know basis, and we needed to know very little beyond (possibly) that they were turning over a new “underwear bomb” to the CIA’s S&T people for analysis.
But wait, Barry told us he's not a Muslim!
Funny, though, how every single thing he does seems to benefit Islamic radicals and hurt America.
I thought this when I read about the new attempted underwear bombing and the fact that Al Quaida had been infiltrated. I thought, “Why on earth are they TELLING us about how it all happened? They’ll never be able to repeat it again.” I find it amazing and pretty sad that someone like me — a nobody, except I guess I do have a brain in my head — can realize that some secrets need to be KEPT . . . but our administration can’t figure that out. Duh!
