“my great grandmother’s grandfather”

Cool.

This tells you a little about me, though: both my great-grandfathers fought in CWI—one on each side. We have the diary the Northerner kept. The Southern side ran for their lives after the loss to the North. A trunk of Confederate money apparently burned up when one of my aunts was young. A house fire. We also can trace back to land now occupied by Baltimore or some such. I want me some reparations!

Both of my great grandmothers on that side of the family were born right around 1900. Both of my great grandfathers were born in Europe shortly before the turn of the century. The brothers were 31 and 32 when they joined the fight nearly 40 years earlier.

My mother was a teen mother so I actually have a vague memory of meeting my great great grandmother.
