In about 2009, I had a conversation with a couple of co-workers, one French and one British, re how liberal/socialist their countries had become, and the impact of islam.

Both agreed. And in their views, it was essentially because so many of the best MEN were lost in WWI and WWII. Basically, the best were killed off, or so mentally beaten they no longer wanted to fight and islam moved in uncontested.
