Poll: Most Americans support same-sex unions [but NOT gay marriage]
CBS news ^ | May 14, 2012 | Tucker Reals

A new CBS News/New York Times Poll shows a solid majority of Americans support legal recognition for same-sex couples - though not necessarily through the official act of marriage - and the number of people who do support full marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples is significantly higher among younger generations.

Overall, 38 percent of those who responded to the survey said same-sex couples should be allowed to marry, just like any other couple. Another 24 percent said civil unions should be used to grant same-sex couples legal rights similar to male-female partnerships. Combined, that means 62 percent - close to two thirds - of Americans believe that same-sex unions should be recognized by law.

Of all those who participated, 33 percent said there should be no legal recognition for same-sex couples.

Keeping in mind this poll was certainly skewed as much as possible to support homo marriage, however, looking at the polling trend, support for homo marriage is DOWN from this time last year. Yes, down.

The percentage of Americans who oppose any kind of legal recognition is up from this time last year. This issue is not trending the way its being reported 99% of the time: that support for homo marriage is on the rise. Just the opposite: it has declined, just as support for "civil unions". Also telling is only 39% of "independents" support homo marriage.

I also wonder how they polled to see who supports “civil unions”. I bet they ask “do you support the right for a homo to make decisions for his boyfriend in the hospital? for gays to inherit their partners property? in other words civil unions?”

I really don’t care about the poll.

I am strongly against same sex CVs and same sex marriage(whatever that is).

This is an attempt to change the deifinition of marriage in the nation.

As far as I am concerned, A Ford is a Ford, and will never be a Chevy.

Same sex unions allow the homo lobby to play dress-up and give them all the rights they claim are denied them, without rewriting the definition of marriage for the 97% of the population which is heterosexual.

If the homo lobby was genuinely interested only in what they claimed, they would accept civil unions and STFU about rewriting the definition of marriage for all of us.

I don’t trust any poll on this subject. There are those who will never give the “wrong” answer to a pollster to be seen as “open-minded”. Only when there is a secret ballot do we know what people really believe.

I don’t support either option. In fact, I’m all fagged out. Too bad each state doesn’t enact a no fag law that would keep these lecherous, evil sodomites in the states that swoon over them!

Fags should pay an extra tax that would pay for their exclusion out of the sight of decent people. These wierdos are walking time bombs who commit the large majority of murders in the nation. After years of ingesting another male’s fecal matter their brains have become short circuited and they pose an enormous danger to children.

They’re striving for ‘equality’ with normal human beings is patently ridiculous. Who wants a fag teaching youngsters how to shove their pee-pees up another male’s poo-poo? If only the misguided homosexual sycophants would just stop and think about what these subhumans do to each other it might seem as though crime against God, man and nature is being committed.

Hmmm...

When uncle Bill dies and leaves his estate to his ‘wife’ George, I wonder how many people, who NOW favor this, will change their minds!

There will never be a secret ballot on this issue because the gay rights people are determined to use intimidation and harassment of anti-Gay Marriage people to push their agenda. The Gay rights people took the issue to court, demanding names and addresses of everyone who signed the defense of marriage initiative and won. The argument was that the Gay rights people swore that they would NEVER think of intimidating or harassing opponents.

Regardless of how you feel about the CU’s, an observation:

When offered SSCU’s as a compromise, most homoactivists loudly refuse, insisting that they have to have the word “marriage”.

This puts the lie to their stated desire to have the same legal standing as married people. It exposes their agenda of undefining and destroying marriage, the desire to “upset the apple cart”.

Pretty much meets with my opinions. I don’t mind same sex “marriage”...just call it something other than marriage because it is different.

After all, Obama’s “degrees” are most certainly different from degrees obtained by folks who actually had to do academic work.

Perhaps we could use the marriage scene term in the Princess Bride movie....”Mawwwage....”

All kidding aside, just call it a civil union (which is already fully lawful) and be done with it.

Yeah.... Indifference and ignorance abounds because of the favorable way sodomites are treated in the popular culture.

But this whole movement is a means to the end of allowing sodomites to adopt children, and to propagandize them in government schools.

Ask someone who’s squishy on the issue to imagine himself as a child, being adopted by sodomites.

If he’s indifferent to that, then God help him.

I don't believe most gays care about marriage. The battle for marriage parity is an expression of hatred for traditional Americans.

Not much else.

How will we know that's true? That this battle is only an expression of their hatred? Because when they 'win' this one, they'll find some other way to degrade us - to fight us - to stomp on our beliefs... It's the 'fight' they're after - only the fight.

How many gays want the responsibilities and restrictions of a marriage? If their current lifestyle is any hint, I'd say, 'not many'. People in permanent rebellion against their 'parents' aren't going to fight to 'settle down'. It's the fight - the slamming the door and stomping out - the high drama of high school that's the real goal. The joy of being seventeen forever - with adult freedom. And the adults? We're sooooooo tired of them. Tired of the antics, tired of the crap... If they win - or when they win 0 they'll choose another fight. It won't end... Think angry rebellious teenagers - huddling with each other against the rules Mom and Dad put down... What a load.

Gays should form domestic partnerships and see how that works for them. Show the rest of us how responsible and serious they are... who knows, we could be wrong about their motives - I don't think so - but it's possible...

More generally, the left's hatred for Christian values.
