I think 0dumb0sh_t really stepped into it with gay outing announcement. I know that Romney will not have the guts to mock 0dumb0 on this, so I hope the conservative super pacs just pound 0dumb0 daily on his gay-ness & agenda.
I agree that public breastfeeding was probably very discreet in the past - especially in Anglo-Saxon cultures. In fact, during my years of interest in fashion, I remember seeing many beautiful bibs for concealing women’s breasts.
As far as the American West (and agricultural life in general) is concerned, one of the reasons they had big families was to aid in the taking care of those crucial chores. It probably freed up some of mom’s time to feed her kiddies.
If I can recommend another book to you about this: try a beautiful book called “Larkrise to Candleford.” It’s about rural life in England during the 1880s. One of the most wonderful books I have ever read.
But I guess we can agree that the Time cover was disgusting!
Ah, the terrible flu epidemic! My very favorite novel - “Look Homeward Angel” concludes with that horrible event. While I don’t remember any discussion of breastfeeding in that book, I do remember the mother had about 10 kids and was exhausted most of the time!
I own “A Tree Grows In Brooklyn”. It’s one of my all-time favorite books- and it was the first thing that I thought of when I saw the Time cover: a child nursing standing up, “with his legs crossed jauntily, looking like he was smoking a pale cigar”. Lol! Good call, mm!
When I first read the book (I was about 13), I was sooooo grossed out at that child! Come to think of it, I still dislike him. He was called Baby Gussie or Tilly or something.
I read “Lark Rise to Candleford” on your recommendation. It was worth the wait on the library reserve list.
I’ve nursed some of my children until they were two years old, but only a few people outside the family knew, because by that age, they want to nurse when they get up in the morning, at naptime, and before bed. Women who make an exhibition of breastfeeding are exhibitionists anyway, in my opinion.
Mom is a transracial family crusader
I love breastfeeding......adored wifeys plumpkins
But that photo is freaky.....and she is no conservative icon
Did you really like it? I remember recommending it to you! It’s very beautiful as well as being entertaining. A classic.
I have a good friend who has two kiddies. When she visits our small family, she quietly retires to one of our rooms to feed her new baby. No fuss, no muss. She has real class.
He WAS a nasty little bugger, wasn’t he? :-) His name was Gussie ( and the trick to wean him was referred to in the neighborhood as “giving the baby the Gussie” ), and his little sister was Tillie. I need to re-read that book, for the hundredth time. Have a good evening, mm!
Yes, it was a wonderful book, with marvelous detail about rural and small-town life. Many episodes reminded me of my father’s old hometown in Missouri; my grandmother would have felt right at home in Lark Rise. I felt so bad about the narrator’s brother, though.
I have a “nursing cover,” which is a sort of apron with a strap around the neck, like Juan Diego’s tilma. I got it free when I ordered a pillow and a footstool, before Kathleen was born, but it has turned out to be very useful. With that and my Motherwear blouses, nobody sees anything unless they try awfully hard.
One when Kathleen was a few weeks old, I was nursing her in my obstetrician’s waiting room - her face and my bosom completely covered - and another patient asked if she was my grandchild!
The feminists wanted this woman to model as the mom but she was too busy.
Dude...
In context of my post...
are you saying she is your wife and your son?
I wait to be enlightened/corrected.

melinda looks like she might be a hottie.
It's not needed for nutrition, it becomes a habit (perverted IMHO), and the boys struggle to become independent “men”. Teeth - it's nature's (God's) way of telling when it's time to change direction and nutrition.
I just realized I left our the pic on my post #31. This is the woman the fems wanted for the Time cover.
I was answering your question has anyone done background on this young mom?
I have.
She is a lib....major progressive and mentally unbalanced in my opinion.
Crows about her transracial family...she adopts African kids....fair enough...save the world and all but don’t flag it for the MLK humanitarian of the year award
She plans on breastfeeding till age six which is kooky as hell..and maybe a bit perv
and she has the kids sleep in her bed every night even longer...like way longer
sick in my opinion
a great way to breed more queers
my other point was I like breastfeeding and plump even if leaky breasts...hell what man doesn’t and I think it’s beautiful for babies...the whole pregnancy-birthpbaby thing is for me a Raison D’etre
but this chick is a nutbag and to watch conservative yet uninformed women latch onto her is scary
attachment parenting
feminism invades traditional mommying is how I see it
women further emasculating boys
you should read up on this trend
in 20 years these men will not know how to drive a car and won’t be able to find jeans tight enough
sorta like young men today but worse
i swear if i see another able bodied 30 year old man being driven around by his wife...I may have road rage
how did this happen...are all the cool young men in Afghanistan?
I love breast feeding moms, too...and was one myself...but this lady, and movement, is too creepy even for me.
