Assuming that Zero gets kicked out of OUR HOUSE in November, could it be that a budget wasn’t passed during an entire administration of a sitting “president”? Any thoughts out there in FReeperland.

We have not passed a budget since 2009. This budget began as a spending request by Bush and was signed by Barack Obama. So it appears that Barack Obama has never had a spending request make it to a full fledged budget. The problem is, I don't think he cares.

I'm not a constitutional lawyer, but I think they should have been forced to turn out the lights, lock the doors, and go home. Supposedly our government is operating on ‘extensions’ of the old budget. If you recall from the reports at the time this was only a temporary measure to keep our mighty much needed federal benefactors operating.

That is proving to be the merest sham. Why if we are operating on a budget extension has spending increased under Obama for the past three years?

This also does away with the typical legal argument that congress has the ultimate check on whitehouse decree since they have to fund them (remember we had that debate under Bush with the war).

It seems to me that this is setting a new and dangerous precedent.
