Virgil Goode has won ballot access in 17 states, says he’s aiming for 40+

Virgil Goode said this afternoon that he’s won ballot access in 17 states as the Constitution Party’s presidential nominee – but Virginia isn’t yet one of them.

The former Virginia senator and 5th District congressman said he’s aiming to be on the ballot in 40 states on Election Day, and more if possible. Four years ago, the Constitution Party appeared on 37 ballots in the presidential race.

Goode said he’s already won ballot access in Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Utah, Wyoming and other states. In Virginia, he needs to secure at least 10,000 signatures from qualified voters, including at least 400 from each of the state’s 11 congressional districts. The deadline is noon on August 24.

He said he’s already working on that and will focus mostly on the 5th, 6th and 9th Districts in western and southern Virginia to obtain the bulk of those signatures.

Goode spoke for about 20 minutes to about 75 members of the Salem Rotary Club, fielding questions and outlining three key differences between him, incumbent President Barack Obama and likely Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

Goode said he favors deeper cuts to the federal budget to avoid running a deficit. He said Obama’s plan runs a $1.3 trillion deficit while the House Republican plan runs a $600 billion deficit while cutting Medicare.

“This is old Franklin County horse sense, but you’re not going to borrow your way to prosperity,” Goode said.

He said he’d preserve the social security and Medicare programs while making deep cuts to social programs and defense.

Goode said that Democrats and Republicans have become compromised by taking large amounts from “heavy hitter” PACs. SO he pledged to take no more than $200 from any individual donor and said he’d eschew money from political action committees.

Goode said if he wins election in November, “you’ll know that the grassroots is back in charge.”

And at a time when both major parties are softening their stance on immigration, Goode said he’d eliminate illegal immigration and largely shut down legal immigration as well, saying there’s no need for the country to issue 1.2 million green cards annually when unemployment is running between 8 percent and 9 percent.

“The best thing to help the working man in this country is to put a moratorium on so many green cards,” Goode said.

Can you imagine the R or D candidates saying this?

It's why I won't be voting for the beltway insiders club.

I'm so done with that.

A bill collector interrogator?

Too funny!

The best interrogators just talk about "things" and you pour out your heart.

Oh gezzz..What a hoot!

You sound more like a grief counselor, or maybe a priest.

Thanks for the laugh!!

Now, if we could only find someone to the left..

Maybe Lenora Fulani would be interested. She got on the ballot in all 50 states in her presidential run.

And she got more votes than Virgil's party in their last election.

I’ll probably end up having to write him in, here in Texas.

Sorry, your hate of Romney doesn’t enhance the stupidity of Goode which is one of the BIG problems on this website now.

Take it up with the owner. I'm not telling you not to vote for Romney, I'm just telling you that he's one liberal who won't end up in the white house.

Virgil Goode is on Obama’s offshore stash payroll.....

You're thinking of Mitt. Being both agents of Agenda 21, Romney and Obama are beneficiaries of the Soros cash machine.

One of the talking points here is that Romney was a democrat.

Why was Romney an independent? (I don't think he was ever a Democrat although he admitted to supporting Dukakis.) Because he detested the policies of Reagan!! This is the horse you're hitching your wagon to. Not me.

If I'm forced to choose, I'd rather have the enemy of conservatism attack me from the front like Obama will than have him stab me in the back like Romney will. Fortunately, I have another choice - vote third-party or not vote for President. However, Mitt Romney will never get my vote.

A lot of folks here fall into my category. They are not Republican, they are Conservative. If we don’t vote for the person with our views, our views will never be known and our vote will be wasted. Voting otherwise would produce false mandates.

So, why’s he a joke...you didn’t respond to that one...from his website...wants immediate balanced budget and does not support Ryan plan...BUT wait...believes Social Security and Medicare are critical to our future...”The President and Congress should save Social Security and Medicare for those who have paid and are paying.”

Immediate balanced budget: the only way to balance it. The reality of Washington DC is that if it's done in steps it never gets done. Cutting spending a small amount equals lip service for voters this year, wait a year or two until things quiet down in the news, and then continue on increasing spending at ever-increasing rates.

Social Security for those who have paid in their whole lives: Take a look at your paystub. You will see SS/Medicare are a separate deduction. Federal Income Tax is separate deductions. Everyone who works pays into SS for the purposes of - gee willigers - someday receiving SS benefits if they live long enough.

Now lemme see in my stupid little mind. If I pay into SS - ABOUT 12% OR 13% OF MY PAY - over my lifetime.... DUUUHHHHH.... (drooling....) duuuuhhh... if the government decides to not pay me SS benefits when I reach the age where I can apply.... or maybe they reduce the amount of benefits to about $100 per month.. or say I need to be 75 years old to collect instead of 65.... geee..... hmmmm... what happened to me ?

I WAS RIPPED OFF.

Hmmmmmm..... I'd like to maybe not pay in to SS any more. I'd like to take that 13% of my paycheck and invest it with my cousin in a butcher shop. Wait - I have no choice. Every employer withholds it from my paychecks. No matter where I work - even if I work for myself - I still have to pay it. What about the "rich" guy who has worked, saved and invested so much he can now live off his investments ? No w-2, no SS withholdings. It's a rubes-only tax.

(smell that coffee... mmmm good) now if the SS (OASDI) trust funds hold the accumulated surplus paid in to the fund over the last 80 years or so... and the fund says it has a $2.5 trillion value... I say great ! Then, they tell me it was "invested" in U.S. Treasury debt, so there's almost no cash there, just IOU's from the U.S. Treasury.

(more drool) but boss, where'd the munny go ?

Congress blew it on Federal spending over the last 80 years.

Hmmm... lemme see what's wrong with this picture. Tell citizens that they'll have a SS retirement check. Withhold money from their paychecks for their entire working life. Hmmmmm....

What an ingenious way for Congress to extract more money for them to slosh around spending to get themselves reelected for 80 years. The right hand shows them the Federal Income Tax they're paying and the whole complex IRS code. The working poor (rubes) see LOW FEDERAL INCOME TAX RATES for themselves and they LOVE IT. They smile, they laugh. Gubmint man gibs me free roads and airports with his name on them, bridges, home loans, college loans - Chuck Schumer - he good man - he help me buy my house. Just like dat Jimmy Stewart on da wunderful life ! Yeah ! Meanwhile, the rube-hole does not see the Congressman's left hand that IS taking 13% of his pay. But dat's for my retirement, Social security. No rube, Congressman is spending that too ! Your grandchildren will pay for your retirement. Your grandchildren will be paying 16% or 17% or more for their "retirement", which, of course, will really be paying your retirement, in true ponzi fashion. All along while there were surpluses in SS no one saw any urgency in the situation. Guess what, the day has come when surpluses have ended. The payouts will be made smaller, either through inflation, retirement age, etc., and the withholding rate on the current workers will go up, by either charging each rube more or having more rubes by increaseing the max gross subject to withholding. If inflation has run wild, then $120k really is the new $108k per year, I guess.

Haa ha on rube ! He thinks only the rich pay for all this gubmint graft, like fancy railroad station projects in towns where the rich folks live and big highway projects and real estate deals and solyndras. The Federal gubmint only taxes the rich ! Rube - you're paying your share and you don't know it ! HAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA !!!!! I'm a man of the people !!!!! (stars and strips forever playing...) I'm a man of the people !!!!!!!

Perfect post!

I would further emphasize what you have posted by saying that those conservatives voting out of fear of Obama for a lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal like Mitt Romney really aren't all that conservative anymore.
