NPRs new chief executive is signaling that there may be some static ahead for the radio and digital news organization.
Halfway through its fiscal year and six months into Gary Knells tenure as chief executive Washington-based NPR has seen a sharp downturn in corporate underwriting, or advertising revenue. The falloff has led to projections of an annual operating deficit and internal discussions about staff and program cuts.

I listen to NPR both ways every day on my 95 mile round trip commute. I’ve never donated and if they should ever go away, I don’t know what I would do! Oh, yeah. I’d listen to CD’s and other stations.
Never mind.
I thought they got a good chunk of one of the estates of one of the heirs of McDonalds (Ray Kroc’s family) as an endowment.
I’ll take Freedom Fries with that.
Well there were some openings for ads on the Rush Limbaugh Show.
Wrong. There wasn’t a shop drop off in advertising. There has been a slight downturn, but the biggest cut is from within NPR as member stations can no longer feed the huge salaries of NPR national staff - they’re too busy stealing the money to give themselves lavish salaries.
If NPR member stations reduced staffing costs by paying a more reasonable salary (Station executive staff can look forward to upwards of $200,000 in salary, compared to a for profit station which would pay less than $100k...), and the national staff also cut their salaries ($400-$800k is the norm for NPR, for profit is $120-190k,) then NPR would be operating in the black. This doesn’t even touch gold plated benefits that don’t exist in the for profit sector.
But this is norm for the course - liberals love to shower themselves with other people’s money, and take it as something they deserve and earn. I’d love to see all the foundations that end up supporting NPR stations demanding reasonable pay or they’ll shut off the tap, but they’re being run by more liberals that are stealing the foundation’s money.
The liberals will have to reach deeper into their pockets for more “contributions” to support their radio stations of choice, won’t they?
Whatever happened to Air America? Maybe liberal talk radio just doesn’t work? Maybe NPR needs different programming to attract more listeners, more donations, and more corporate support??????
That one day Garrison Keillor has to earn a real living with his english major degree....I have a dream.
*sneer*
I love happy endings.
If more liberals are even more unhappy, maybe they will repent their miserable lives.
If these staions are so important, why don’t all of the wealthy RAT-Lib-Socialists who say so donate their millions to keep these “public” stations on the air?? Problem solved!
NPR = National Propaganda Radio
PBS = Propaganda Broadcasting System
This episode of Even More Things Considered has been brought to you by the Rush Limbaugh Foundation.
I can hear the liberal heads exploding from here.
Thanks. I haven’t heard Connie Francis in years. Brings back memories.
Not hardly, the 'Rats in the Gov't will increase the amount of our tax dollars to make up the difference. They will cry about how we can't survive without NPR or public television, the evil Republicans want to end public broadcasting, etc.....
LOL

Listened to NPR way back in the day, but never forked over cash.
Maybe they should go on satellite.
