Marco Rubio breathes life into limited DREAM Act [Democrats welcome compromise proposal]

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Marco Rubio's attempt to provide limited legal status to many of the children who entered this country illegally is finding a warm welcome from a surprising source: Senate Democrats.

The Florida Republican, who is huddling with Senate leaders from both parties this week, is emerging as a prominent player in the contentious debate over immigration. His search for an acceptable compromise on the long-sought DREAM Act has drawn tentative support across the party divide, raising the chances for passage in this election year.
.
.
"We've talked with them about policies that would help these kids but still be responsive to conservative principles," said Rubio spokesman Alex Conant. "The feedback we've gotten from them has been positive as well.

"There are a lot of people of good will on both sides who are willing to set politics aside and do something that would help these kids. We're cautiously optimistic we can get something done this year."

The DREAM Act "was dead in the water" until Rubio started working on his version of it, Conant noted.

Rubio's Amnesty Act marches on. Another "Maverick" in the mold of Juan McCain, hard at work reaching around across the aisle. Still being talked up for Willard's VP slot. They'd make a great couple.

Thanks for breathing life into the 'dead' DREAM Act, Rubio.

Here's an idea, lets make Marco the GOP's heir apparent by appointing him Romney's running mate /s.

They never learn...

2004
"You say this guy Mel Martinez is a rock-solid, true-conservative, patriot from Florida who opposes all forms of handouts and amnesty for illegals? Sounds good! Well, there's no need to vet him if Jeb Bush vouches for the guy! He's automatically got my vote!"

Of course, the encouraging words from political adversaries could set up Republicans for blame if his fledgling proposal gets killed by conservatives in the U.S. House.

All Rubio is doing is help further isolate the conservative faction of the party. Its totally unnecessary. And he knows it.

Remember this the next time someone tells you how conservative Marco Rubio is.

Rubio’s only mistake has been not giving his proposal a name.

The result is mass mischaracterization as “amnesty” or “version of DREAM act”.

These attacks are from the “Shoot ‘em or Ship ‘em” crowd, who have no real world alternatives.

You want to piss me off? Then start talking about amnesty again you effin’ traitors.

Using the “kids” as a prop in order to get backdoor amnesty for their illegal alien parents.

Next will be chain migration, then putting the indigent and elderly family members on SSI, etc.

They’re illegal, get them the hell out. Then enact and enforce all of the measures that are currently the law. Build the walls where you can and then use the natural barriers as a funnel of sorts. Let the BP and ICE do their damned jobs you bastards!

Deny them ALL taxpayer provided benefits, enforce the employment regulations, prosecute all identity theft, and then deport them ALL. Keep their families together, put them ALL on the same bus and then send those pieces of garbage in Mexico the bill.

Once you start cracking down, word will spread like wildfire, the rest will get the message and start heading for the border. And the so-called “activists”, if they get in the way, send them packing as well. Enough of this scaredy-cat, kids glove handling of the problem.

I stand with Sheriff Joe and other like minded folks!

Marco Rubio is a principled politician, which simply means that he sell us out less than the regular politicians.

But somehow Rubio is still a fan favorite here.

I don’t get it.

Floridians know Rubio wants amnesty. As a person whose family benefited from his grandfather's ignoring a deportation order, how could he not? Say NO TO RUBIO.

Does “uneducated, stupid, non readers, and brain dead” ring a bell?

I wish I had the vocabulary to describe how much I dislike Rubio. But I would be kicked off and banded.

Maybe he could start up El Paderón again and be chief of it.

This idiot is worthless as a human.

"real world alternatives"

So that's the new euphemism for socialist ideas.
