Ex-Spanish PM: Khamenei Told Me 'Israel Must Burn'

Former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar said Thursday that Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei personally told him in 2000 that Israel must be physically annihilated.

"In a private discussion we held in Tehran in October of 2000, Ali Khamenei told me that Israel must be burned to the ground and made to disappear from the face of the Earth," Aznar told the audience, according to a report in Israel Hayom.

Aznar spoke at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA).

Former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Dore Gold, the head of JCPA, asked Aznar if Khamenei was "referring to a gradual historical process involving the collapse of the Zionist state, or rather its physical-military termination?"

Aznar answered, "He meant physical termination through military force."

For behold, Your enemies make a tumult;
And those who hate You have lifted up their head.
They have taken crafty counsel against Your people,
And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.
They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,
That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”
(Psalm 83:2-4)

Surprised? Why should anybody expect any less from Iran? Aznar was a good politician, but he sure does not know his Bible!

He’s right. Some burning is going to happen but it’s not going to be Israel. BTW, I wonder if those 72 virgins are wearing asbestos saris by now?

This turd is really asking for it.

They've been asking for it since 1979 but Carter was too much of a limp wristed liberal\appeaser to do anything. That momentum of inaction has prevailed.

Israel will be attacked. Large parts of it will be destroyed. Iran will be eliminated with perhaps Syria and Cairo being added for good measure. Or so I hope on the last sentence.

For all the so called Arab concern for the Palestinian plight, I don’t think they would hestitate to kill every single Palestinian (or Arab) in Israel if it meant riding Israel of the Jews. Or, for that matter, if it meant the land (including Jerusalem) would be unihabitable for the next few centuries. To them, it would be the price to pay for serving Allah’s will.

And for that matter, most Europeans would barely arch an eyebrow over it too.

Iran might be willing to pay the price of their own annihilation if it means getting rid of Israel. The only one to retaliate would be Israel. I don’t for a second think Obama or the Europeans would do squat.

Every president since Carter has ignored the clear and present danger that is iran.

The very same mullah said just that. I believe he said that the destruction of Israel would be worth the deaths of 300 million muslims. Of course, being iranian, having no love of arabs, I'm sure it wouldn't matter to him how many arabs were killed, he'd probably be OK with all of them dead.

Aznar was one of the best friends Israel and the (former) US ever had. He’s a brilliant guy, and if the Muslims hadn’t bombed Madrid - with leftist support - just before the Spanish elections, his party with his ideas would probably still be in power and Spanish and European life would be quite different.

Do I understand that he objects?
Khamenei told him this in 2000. It’s 2012!

Its astounding to see the the world still has tolerance for this kind of genocidal hatred and is still ready to play along with this madman like they did with Hitler.

A good question, and one I had, too.

He should have slapped Khamenei down then and there, and then reported it immediately!

Of course, given our media, he might have, and they’re just now reporting it.
