Federal government spent nearly $70 billion on climate change activities since 2008 6:13 PM 05/17/2012
The Congressional Research Service estimates that since 2008 the federal government has spent nearly $70 billion on climate change activities.
Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Inhofe presented the new CRS report on the Senate Floor Thursday to make the point that the Obama administration has been focused on green defense projects to the detriment of the military.
The report revealed that from fiscal years 2008 through 2012 the federal government spent $68.4 billion to combat climate change. The Department of Defense also spent $4 billion of its budget, the report adds, on climate change and energy efficiency activities in that same time period.
Inhofe, the Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works and a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, argued that the expenditures are foolish at a time when the military is facing devastating cuts.
[E]veryone agrees that energy efficiency in the military is a worthy goal, he said. In fact, I have been a strong supporter of some of DoDs alternative energy solutions that are affordable and make sense, including their initiatives on non-algal bio-fuels and natural gas. But forcing our military to take money away from core programs in order to invest in unproven technologies as part of a failed cap-and-trade agenda is not only wrong, its reckless.
Inhofe, who believes climate change is an unproven scientific theory at best and a hoax at worst, expressed concern about recent statements by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta expressing the departments focus on making and keeping the military green.

YA , it worked ,you did have a warmer winter LOL
What was it was spent on? I’d like to see
a complete accounting - anyone know where to
find this?
Why do state and federal governments really like ethanol blended fuels?
Because mandating the use of ethanol blended fuel is a disguise for a hike in gasoline taxes.
Adding alcohol to gasoline dilutes the fuel, and lowers the heat energy.
One US gallon of Gasoline (regular unleaded) = 114,100 BTU/gal
One US gallon of Ethanol (E100) = 76,100 BTU/gal [67% of gasoline BTU]
One US gallon of 10% Ethanol/Gasoline Blend (E10) = 111,300 BTU/gal [97% of gasoline BTU]
So adding 10% ethanol to gasoline requires burning 3% more fuel to accomplish the same task.
Ethanol blended gasoline requires buying more gallons of fuel in order to travel the same distance.
Highway fuels are taxed “by the gallon”, so governments collect more taxes with “watered down” alcohol blended fuels.
Does this just scream of entire Congress being corrupt? The House is supposed to hold the purse strings. Between this appalling amount of wasted tax dollars - no doubt to Obama donors and the full speed ahead of the Obamacare expenditures, is there any doubt this bunch in Washington is totally out of control? Pushing gay everything 24/7, attacking religious freedom, enviro whackos running everything, spending like drunken jerks and being arrogant all the while.
God help us and keep us strong to throw these critters out. This borders on criminal in my book.
Let's have the GSA investigate. Or maybe the DOJ - oh wait..... We are SOOOO in need of dumping incumbents.
Pay my fair share this........ you creeps.
Interesting thought there on ethanol.
But the Baraqqi Depression has torpedo’d gas taxes by driving consumption to 1997 levels

Exactly.
You want to change your normal habits and drive less to save money;
and so FedGov and StateGov has diluted your fuel to try to keep up.
IMHO ethanol fuel was pushed thru by the farm lobby, pure and simple, creating demand and driving up prices. And over the last 30 yrs, the farm lobby has been pretty powerful.
We’ve had almost exclusively E10 fuel here in Indiana for 20+ years.
Just think, 70 billion would have put us on the MOON,
we could be half way to MARS. instead it’s squandered
on unproven science.
Government hacks need to HANG, it would be a good
incentive for the rest.
My fantasy world gulag is rapidly reaching capacity.
I don't think they (or CA) got the memo that catastrophic climate change had been largely disproved. It is too convenient a crisis to use as a foil to implement global agendas that level standards of living, place natural resources in central government control and redistribute global wealth. Can't pry the control from their hands at this point. May have proceeded too far. They have implemented a vast machine costing mucho bucks of our taxes.

Spent billions on theoretical problems when they could have been improving known nuclear plant safety issues.
Obama’s friends got $68.4 billion to combat fairy dust.
And much of that money will be sent back as donations to help Democrats.
Green Energy, hmmmmmmmmm - - - - - - . Yeah! I saw some yesterday! There it was just basking in the Sun nice and tidy on a green carpet of Bermuda Grass.
I heard a deep noise, turned around and more handy-sized dull green energy packets were falling on the green pasture.
By carefully walking around other drying packets of green energy I found one that had dried out enough to be shipped by air to 1600 Plantation Avenue, in the District of Corruption.
If any of yall want to send Obama some of these green energy packets from a pasture near you, just make sure that all the water is out of these green energy packets, so that the TSA screeners at the airports will approve and then ship your packets by fossil fueled Jet planes.
The nice thing about these magnificent meadow muffins of green energy is that they last a lifetime if you dont get them wet.
Yep, all ya gotta do is add water! Well, be careful to not let them hit a fan, or a fan of green energy.
BTW, I changed my mind: the last idea is probably a good idea - - - .
