WARNER ROBINS -- Police are investigating a Sunday night burglary in which one of the suspected burglars was shot.

Shortly before 10 p.m., Gabriel Blair Duncan, 18, was at his apartment at 1005 Elberta Road when two men forced their way inside, according to a police news release.

Duncan began shooting at the men, who then fled the apartment, the release stated. Police say one of the suspected men, Justin Christopher Gladden, 20, of Warner Robins, was found shot in the 100 block of Dixie Trail. There was a visible gunshot wound in his back, and there appeared to be a second wound in his left shoulder, according to a report from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, which assisted Warner Robins police in investigating the incident.

Gladden was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, and his injuries do not appear to be life threatening, the release stated. Gladden will be arrested and charged with burglary once he is released from the hospital, said police spokeswoman Tabitha Pugh. No items were taken, and a motive had not been established, she said.

Houston County jail records show Gladden was released from the Houston County jail at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, hours before the alleged burglary. He had been in the jail since Friday serving time for “weekend jail,” Pugh said. Weekend jail -- in which an offender spends a number of weekends, Friday through Sunday, in jail -- was part of Gladden’s sentence for a probation violation of driving on a suspended license, Pugh said. It was not immediately known what Gladden was on probation for.

Police were still looking for the second man suspected in the burglary. He is described by police as black, about 6 feet tall and about 250 pounds.

It appears that "weekend jail" did not work in this case.
