Actually, widespread use of solar energy would be a big step forward for national defense. Presently our centralized power plants present obvious targets. The limited capacity of solar power might toughen us up a bit too.

Any solar array of reasonable capacity occupies a large area. They are also very “soft” targets; a bag of rock thrown at them would cause great damage.

As one who is currently living “off the grid” with the limitations of solar panels, battery banks & inverters (gecko crawled in and fried a $2000 inverter last month), I say that you can keep your “limited capacity of solar power might toughen us up a bit too.” Give me lightng bright enough to read by, A/C when it’s 95 & 90% humidity, and wouldn’t it be luverly to have a microwave!
