Large robots invade Earth, okay.... US takes old battleships out of mothballs to fight them? One of the dumbest premises ever. Even dumber premise: old battleship (decommissioned in 1992, and which has not moved under her own power since then, which has been operating as a floating museum since 1999) has fuel in her bunkers, can be gotten running by a handful of old guys in under an hour, and HAS LIVE AMMUNITION FOR THE MAIN GUNS ON BOARD for just such an eventuality.

We went to see Battleship today and found it to be quite entertaining. I have no trouble recommending it. Oh, I saw it with my wife on Saturday. We enjoyed it immensely. Great mindless shoot-em-up, great special effects. Just don't expect the plot to make any sense at all.

and those weapons would be effective somehow against advanced alien robots? Those things must be really slow.

You would think an alien railgun or particle beam weapon would put a hole through a battleship.
Or even a little 40mm projectile with an antimatter warhead.

I know. They crossed the universe and seem to have cripped the worlds militaries and will be taken out by one old ship?

You are a strange man.
Me, I liked the scenes with Brooklyn Decker in short shorts.
