It was a long hard fight, but we finally got it passed. The Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce that has a lot of power in the state legislature fought hard against it.
And only one state that prohibits ANY kind of carry. Unfortunately, I live in that Stalinist hell hole. Not surprisingly, it also boasts a violent crime rate that is in the stratosphere.
They must be seriously infiltrated with liberals and RINOs. What rational objection did they have? I cannot think of any, except that they wish to delegitimize the ownership and carrying of guns, which implies that they wish to delegitimize the Constitution, and all that is implied by that.
I believe their opposition is that they believe it will be a detriment to attracting industry to the state. Oklahoma is a very conservative state, but we do have our share of RINOs and crony capitalists.
So I’m kind of an idiot on this.....this means you can walk around with a sidearm openly displayed?....and you won’t be hassled by cops at every turn??
Do you have Mississippi on that list?
If any state should have Constitutional carry, it should be Texas, but it will take a State Constitutional amendment to do that.
Much as I disliked the libs in NM, I did enjoy being able to open carry into town when I was coming in from the field where I may have used a firearm to protect myself. I shot 5 rattlesnakes and one rabid skunk with granddad's .38 snubby while I was doing field work there.
And loaned the weapon to a state trooper neighbor while we were repairing fences because mine had the snake-shot in it. He got the rattlesnake.
Texas sucks, in that regard.

You got that right!
Mississippi is an open carry state and the state constitution appears to guarantee this right. Further, localities are generally preempted under state law from enacting local gun control ordnances that might restrict open carry. However, Miss. Code §§ 97-37-1 & § 45-9-101 operate together to ban carriage of a handgun "concealed in whole or in part" unless the carrier is inside a motor vehicle or possesses a License to Carry a Concealed Pistol or Revolver. As the Mississippi courts have said that a handgun in a holster is concealed in part, a License to Carry a Concealed Pistol or Revolver is required to openly carry a handgun in a holster in Mississippi.
This is old news. The governor signed the bill five days ago. The Oklahoma gun forums have been buzzing over this for days. The law goes into effect November 1st. You may open carry if you have a concealed handgun license and you may carry on your own property without a license. We don’t anticipate that there will be a great many who will open carry. The police will stop you and ask to see your CHL. And the libtards will go into spasms if they see you open carry and will call the police. The best part of the new law is that you don’t have to worry about “printing” if you are carrying concealed or about accidentally exposing your weapon if you bend over, etc.
Yeah, sort of like the cops are not supposed to hassle illegals in AZ.
Fair is fair.
Now I’m really feeling ‘slow’.......care to expand? I don’t get it. I was asking a legitimate question.
I just got a picture of cops being prevented from asking hispanics about their legality.
Sorry, it makes no sense to me now. >)
Yes, it means you can openly display your firearm. As far as the cop thing, I don’t know.
No, that’s fine.....I just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss something here.
Actually, your analogy is apt. If a cop sees an Hispanic person, he or she should not assume that this person is an illegal alien. Similarly, if a cop sees a person carrying a sidearm, they should not assume that this person is not licensed to carry a weapon.
Yes, that was what I was trying to convey.
