The Republican Party being unable to obtain the presidency with an unpopular, even despised Democrat in office after having moved to the left brings about the end of the Republican party and creates a power vacuum for stronger conservatism.

I hope you're right. But what I fear is that what will really happen is that the Republican party survives, as the country-club party. And there will also be a strong conservative party.
In a three-way race, the non-lib vote will be split. The lib's will therefore win it all.
