SS death index is still up on Ancestry.com.
The Rootsweb worked much better/quicker. Not sure why, other than "misuse" it was taken down. Nothing to stop users from "misusing" the Ancestry.com index, assuming they can find the person they are looking for...
I expect all 53,000 dead voters to be found again on election day - in line to vote for Obama, just before the polls close.
Haven’t been on Rootsweb in a long time But I was amazed that the SS# was listed on the index on Ancestry. Dumb thing IMO.
Many of my relatives had their S/S numbers up. I think that is why Rootsweb dropped the S/S Death List. Really, really, easy for identity thieves. But if one had S/S # of person they were searching for, it did make positive ID possible. But as always, a few idiots ruin it for all.
I get so many hits for same name on Ancestry. Why I preferred Rootsweb.
I’ll go on Rootsweb even though I have a year subscription to Ancestry. Thanks and I do agree with you on the SS#.
