High school teacher tells student he can be arrested for criticizing Obama

Joe Newby Spokane Conservative Examiner

After criticizing Mitt Romney, a North Carolina high school teacher yelled at a student for asking a question about Barack Obama, telling him that he could be arrested for criticizing Barack Obama.

Sarah Campbell wrote at the Salisbury Post Saturday that the heated exchange began "with a classroom conversation about a recent news story detailing Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney allegedly bullying a classmate in prep school. It turns into a heated, sometimes confrontational debate."

“Didn’t Obama bully someone though,” one student asked, referring to an incident in Obama's memoir, “Dreams from My Father,” in which Obama admitted pushing a girl when other students called him her boyfriend.

“Stop, no, because there is no comparison,” the teacher said.

According to the teacher, Romney is “running for president," and therefore does not deserve the same respect as Obama, who "is the president.”

“Listen, let me tell you something, you will not disrespect the president of the United States in this classroom,” she said.

She went on to tell the student that he "will not" say what he wants about Obama, and asserted that it was a crime to "slander" the President. The student responded by recalling that many spoke ill of George W. Bush while he was President, and such arrests would violate the Constitutional right to free speech.

I hope this doesn’t get me banned, but the teacher doesn’t sound like a white teacher.

This is a rat-wide disease. Liberal chicks and gay warriors do the same thing.

BARF ALERT

MSNBC Praises Obama For Not Invoking The “White Privilege” He Has Access To “Because Of His Interracial Heritage”…

The difference between MSNBC and Comedy Central grows thinner by the day.

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry: I’d argue that President Obama has, he has, because of his interracial heritage, an access to white privilege that could afford him a certain status. But as an adult, he chose to move away from that privilege rather than toward it. He chose to live in the south side of Chicago, he went into public service rather than private law. He checks off ‘black,’ just ‘black’ on his census forms. So the president actively decided to be a person with less privilege rather than with more”

“I like the student having enough intelligence to question things, that is perhaps a lesson too few learn is that just because someone in authority says something so it is not necessarily so”

***

They do the same in Canada. When I was in HS, the teachers there made sure to insult and denigrate every American achievement. I basically rebelled (just like an HS student) and questioned the existence of canada. The teachers hated me but graduated anyway with honors.

So, what did you have to say in your classroom while Bush was president?

KLBJ in Austin played that tape several times today and the 0 bummer supporter / voter said that people got arrested for things they said about Bush. I never heard about those incidents.

What ever happened to that Congressman, Wilson??? The one that called Obama a liar in his state of gthe union show a couple of years ago???

I think the guy (Congressman) was recieving donations for his re-election campaign to the tune of a few million dollars within the few days that followed that...

And with the GOP establishment telling the guy to appologize (and threaten censureship) for damaging the decorum of the proceding???

Shoot, with friends like that in your own party, who needs enemies...

Truth is in the pudding...And the more people and those that represent us, keep coddling this communist, lying, destructive, and devisive racist of a president...The worse this is ALL going to get...

The teacher needs to be repremanded at the very least...I’m cool with not disrespecting the office of the President of these United States, but we the people have every right to question, badger, editorialize and critisize them and anyone working in that administration as long as we can protect the Constitution that gives us that right...

Something a Social Studies teacher should know and understand, and respect young folks who can see through the BS we are ALL being subjected to!!!

Personally, I’d laugh right in her face...She is an insult to the job she has, much less the responsibility to teach what is right and hold her personal preferences to her self...

I would be concerned about the grades this kid is going to get in this class if I were the school and the parents...Any retribution by this teacher should be grounds for termination with ALL due prejudice...

I don’t have time to search it out right now but a guy was arrested last year in Hemet CA for reading his bible on the street to people waiting in line at the registry of motor vehicles. When he stated to the officer that he has a 1st amendment right of free speech the cop said “not to a captive audience!” I did not follow up on that story but it seems to me that a classroom is a captive audience and preaching liberal politics would be a violation of this kids civil rights...no?

I never heard about those incidents.

I know they had a couple of incidents in CO with teachers when Bush was president, one just up the road from, and they were very vocal to their classes about how they hated President Bush. One teacher was Jay Bennish at Overland Highschool in Aurora that gained nationwide attention. Another one that gained nationwide attention was a teacher in another CO school that had a bumpersticker and/or button that said "not my president" if I'm remembering correctly. I don't remember them being hauled off or losing their jobs.

Looks like we have a suspension with pay happening...

http://salisbury.wbtv.com/news/politics/73239-classroom-debate-over-obama-goes-viral-teacher-suspended

What gets me is a felow classmate/peer is chiming in...

(”He was wrong for setting her up like that, he could have just went in and talked to her,” Student Desmond Turner said.)

I didn’t see any baiting, only a spirited discussion (if you could call it that, and no one was going to back off...And thats ok, in my opinion...

I assume the suspension with pay will be until the attention it is getting, dies down a bit, and then its back to business as usual in that school...

Personally, I fire her...There are a lot better teachers needing to work than this ignorant waste of time, space and air...
