Sheaffer said the big reason the stand your ground law is so controversial is that people can start fights, get in over their heads, use deadly force and then try to use the law to justify it.

Schaeffer is an idiot.
You don't adopt laws based on the rare and exceptional event.
It is not intended to be challenged by habitual repeat criminals, major or minor, but by random and unique victims.

No controversy there.

I doubt there has ever been any case of the same victim repeatedly "standing his ground." If there were, mosts juries would fix that in a hurry!

but none of this rises to the level of a cae the nation needs to discuss, it does not tell us much about whites allegedly “hunting down” black people. It’s all just a great big reality show at this point.

Maybe the MSM should limit all the ignorant speculations to the BET network.

I’m not sure who told you that cannabis causes you to feel “invincible” but that’s just not true.

You are obviously unaware that the world does not revolve around you. Drugs affect different people differently, and it is not defined by how it has affected YOU.
.
I have heard the opposite from people who acknowledge that their present mental impairments resulted from prolonged marijuana use. Including delusions, paranoia, mood swings etc.

I understand completely that the world does not revolve around me, and you are 100% correct that drugs do effect differant people differantly.

I agree with you that a small percentage of people who use cannabis can experiance paranoia and mood swings.

In all of my exposure over the years to people who have used cannabis - which is admittedly a lengthy list - I have never heard anything about a cannabis user feeling “invincible” or getting high to go out and look for a fight.

However, even if I am 100% wrong, and you are 100% right, and 100% of the people who smoke cannabis transform into heartless, merciless thugs who attack people without provocation, it will bear no relevence whatsoever to the trial because of the fact that cannabis stays in your system for so long after it was used.

Any defense attorney worth a salt would be able to say that there was “reasonable doubt” that the THC level in his system was from weeks prior to the altercation and have that finding thrown out.

I mean no disrespect to you, FRiend, but I do disagree with you that the THC in Trayon’s system is relevent in any way to the lad’s sad course of action.
