This issue really infuriates me. In my voting precinct, all you have to do is show up and give a street address and a name. Sometimes they don't even ask you for your name, they will simply show you the names listed for that address and ask you to pick which one. No ID. No verification whatsoever to prove who you say you are.

One time I voted with my wife and after they checked her off, they automatically checked the name under her. Only that wasn't my name, it was my son's name. My name was listed under his. When I tried to correct it, they told me not to worry about it and to tell my son that if he wanted to come vote later, to just use my name.

The whole process is a freakin' joke. There has got to be tens of thousands of fraudulent votes being cast in every state (at least) and you can bet that virtually none of them are for Republicans.

We have got to start passing Voter ID laws and in order to put some bite in it, we need to have a mandatory 5-year jail term for anybody casting a vote fraudulently.

Of course, this will never happen in states controlled by Democrats because voter fraud is always in their favor.

We got Voter ID on the ballot and passed in Mississippi. It is being held up by the Justice Department. Our Republican SOS, Delbert Hosemann was elected in 2007 and re-elected in 2011. He is doing an excellant job in everything he’s responsible for and especially elections. Mississippi doesn’t allow election officials to ask for ANY ID including voters registration card, if you know someone’s name and address you can illegally but easily vote for them. Our voter ID, if and when it goes into effect will fix that. As I recall SOS Hosemann has updated the SS reporting of deaths and is working to get the various counties to purge the voter rolls, more difficult in some counties than others but SOS Hosemann is getting it fixed. I live in DeSoto county and our Election Commission and County Clerk have been more diligent than many in the State. We are the 4th most populous county in Mississippi and vote heavily Conservative and Republican.

According to Texas law, if you don't have your voter registration card, you have to either show a photo ID or utility bill mailed to you at that address. Once the courts clear Texas to enforce its voter ID law enacted in 2011, the utility bills won't suffice, and it will be necessary to show a valid photo ID. The forms of photo ID that will be allowed are driver's license, state-issued personal ID card, military ID, U.S. passport, citizenship certificate, or concealed handgun license. Since I have applied for a US passport card along with a new book passport, I'm going to use my passport card to vote in November in lieu of my voter registration card.
