In the most predictable demographic revolution ever, the Census Bureau reported that nonwhite babies now make up a majority of all births.
This shift was inevitable as long as the basic architecture of the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act remained in place. It ended the old system of per-country quotas and -- together with subsequent liberalizations -- unleashed a flood of immigration from Latin America and Asia. So long as about a million new immigrants entered the country every year, a demographic transformation was assured as a matter of mathematics.
By 2010, the immigrant population was 40 million, following the highest decade in immigration in our history. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, the immigrant population had doubled since 1990, nearly tripled since 1980 and quadrupled since 1970. Hispanics went from about 4 percent of the population in the mid-1960s to 16 percent in 2010.
Ted Kennedy and other architects of the 1965 law predicted that nothing much would come of the law's changes. "Our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually," Kennedy insisted, and "the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset." Forty-five years later, Hispanics are roughly 26 percent of all births, blacks 15 percent, and Asians 4 percent.
These categories aren't quite as clear-cut as advertised. About half of Hispanics identify their race as white on the census, a phenomenon that was neglected until The New York Times started calling George Zimmerman a "white Hispanic," apparently on grounds that an unambiguously Hispanic man couldn't possibly be involved in a racially charged shooting of a young black man.
At its best, this country absorbs immigrants and makes them fully American. The question is whether we can do it now, with our common culture under assault

Motivated by parochial self-interest, the pro-mass immigration, open borders, amnesty advocates have formed a powerful coalition including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, labor union leaders, the Catholic Church, ethnic and racial groups, “moderate” Republicans, and the Democrat Party. The common thread that unites these groups is power, money, and the prospect of increased constituencies, even at the expense of our long-term national interests and survival.
The one that makes me the most angry, is the Chamber of Commerce. They want short term profits, knowing full well, it will cost us our country.
So if we dare take your numbers at face value you have proven beyond a doubt there is no need for affirmative action. There is no need to give preference to foreign students over in state citizens at various state universities. In fact, based on your numbers we should be giving whites favored status.
Sorry, you could make your diatribe 100 paragraphs longer and not be able to cover up the fact there are cultures grossly inferior to ours who thanks to the woman killer Ted Kennedy they are getting preference in the USA.
Equal opportunity? YES without question! Equal NO without question. When 50% of all crimes in the USA are committed by a group comprising 6.5% of the USA’s population all the number dancing in the world will not cover up the fact there is something seriously wrong. Until the “play the race card first, last and always” crowd admits there is a problem it will never be resolved.
Agree and they have enormous sway in the GOP leadership in Congress. They have been effective in blocking legislation from even coming to the floor on such issues as E-verify. They have filed amicus curiae briefs all over the country trying to stop legislation that cracks down on illegal immigration.

Precisely. The children of immigrants will definitely seize on any and all affirmative action programs and 90% of immigrants are non-white these says. Most Asians cannot get on the affirmative action gravy train but the others can.
Even so, there are plenty of immigrants who are grabbing affirmative action goodies even if Spetsnaz and his friends do not

Talking about diatribes ...as I have made very clear I do not support affirmative action. If you bother to read my 'diatribe' you will realize I say that several times, and at one point even show why it bothers me personally, and how there are probably not many FReepers who hate it more than me. If you have a hair-triggered visceral reaction to someone saying that African immigrants are doing VERY well in the US, and you somehow associate that with defense of affirmative action and tie-it-in with 50% of crimes being committed by 6.5% of a population that is NOT African immigrants, then bully for you. Great. However it doesn't make it any more sensible since I did not defend affirmative action, and I was not talking about your locally grown product.
As for your post about 50% of all crimes in the US being committed by 6.5% - well, if I take your numbers at face value, you have proven beyond a reasonable doubt what? My 'diatribe' was not about YOUR African-Americans. It was about African immigrants. Thus, unless your 50% of crimes are being committed by African immigrants that is really not pertinent to anything I was posting about. Your local grown product has serious problems, and there is a lot of open hostility between African immigrants and your locally grown product.
So, if your local grown product is causing 50% of your crimes that is perturbing, but its pertinence to anything I was talking about is tantamount to discussions of the viscosity of warm spit at a blue-grass music festival ...zip.
And anyways, if I want to stay on FR I best keep my thoughts on your locally grown product to myself.
