and, frankly, trying to dredge up Jeremiah Wright, right or wrong, after this issue was litigated four years ago by John McCain deciding not to litigate it was stupid,” Rove said on "Fox News Sunday."
-SNIP-
“I thought it was very smart for the Romney campaign to immediately go out and denounce the tactic,” Rove added. “It certainly sent a message to everyone in America what they wanted the campaign to be about

I think you can win on the theme that Wright was a bad guy. Wright hates the USA and by 0bama’s actions it seems he learned his lessons from Wright. No one would do the things he has done and expect them not to be disasters on US citizens. Orchestrated crisis is what they are doing. Trying to orchestrate situations to prove that the free market does not work. Orchestrated crises: Fast and furious, housing crisis, takeover of GM and Chrysler, takeover of student loan program and bank bailouts. Stimulous is just taking from the makers and giving to the government takers pension plans. It is 0bama’s war on productive workers.

I don’t disagree with your sentiment.

But the question here is whether the quarterback should be the one hitting Obama on Rev. Wright.

I think it is smart to stay on the message of economy, jobs and debt.

I think ignoring him and all that he stands for is stupid.

It should not be that way but it seems like the American voter could care less about Rev. Wright. We've been there and done that 4 years ago. They voted for Obama anyways. Just because McCain said nothing about Rev. Wright does not mean he was not exposed to the voters.

Obama now needs to be vetted for his accomplishments during his first term in Office. He's been President for almost 4 years now. To vet him as if he hadn't been President yet is useless at this point.

Telling the truth is now a “tactic.”

If the "truth" be about Rev. Wright, it was already told 4 years ago. Obama won anyways. Now that he's been President for almost 4 years the "truth" is now what remains inside the voter's wallet. Biden and Reid know that. That's why they are running around the country telling the American voter that this economy we are in is all due to the Tea Party. We need to be making sure the voter knows THAT "truth" and point those fingers at Obama and not his Reverend.

>>>Republican candidates need to focus on jobs, the economy and the debt

I agree but showing that Obama didn’t make peace between the races as he promised (in fact has led it to a breaking point) is a strategy that will encourage possibly a significant number of rational white liberals to stay at home on election day.

I do remember the days when Rove was loved on FR, and regarded by many as “The Magnificent Bastard”.
How times have changed, hahaha.

Well what did you expect when Rove decided to attack the Tea Party like he has done almost non-stop since 2010?

I agree that the strategy you mention could be effective. But, Mittens does not seem to be taking that course. He seems to be rebutting those who tell the truth about 0bama’s associations (Communists, racists, terrorists, homosexuals, any more?). I just think 0bama wants to Occupy Your Bank Account.

Bingo!

Every person Obama has associated with, including his parents, hated America and he got a steady diet of that his entire life. Run of the mill Democrats and establishment Republicans think Obama is about advancing socialism, but it isn't. It is about the humiliation of this country, removing it as a superpower on the world stage and creating a level of desperation so deep Americans will give up their liberty in hopes of being saved. The damage he will do in a second term is unimaginable and if Romney and Rove blow this, America is over economically, militarily and spiritually.

Let Obama guess where the attack is coming from. Put Obama on the defensive on every front. Let the people of this country know this is not about whether a Democrat or Republican sits in the White House. It is about whether there is any America left at all in four more years.

“If the “truth” be about Rev. Wright, it was already told 4 years ago.”

Actually, the truth about Rev. Wright was NOT disseminated as it should have been, in fact McInsane was hostile to that truth being broadcast, because he ran a lily-livered campaign that apparently Romney wants to run, too.

Yeah, great job, TURDBLOSSOM with McCain’s defeat. Who keeps listening to these idiots???

And TURDBLOSSOM is somehow an expert, they guy who now admits he should have taken the gloves off when he was Bush’s advisor?

No, I think a good reminder of Reverend Wright will help explain Obama’s racist, redistributionist policies and make it clear (once and for all) who we’re dealing with.

The economy is not our biggest enemy, it is Obama’s radical, racist, communist, foreign ideology. And to cower and take away the Reverend Wright issue would be idiotic.

But it looks like Milquetoast Romney plans to do just that.

McInsane was hostile to that truth being broadcast,

That's a whole different issue. McCain was hostile to it, but the cat was already out of the bag by then.

Any Americans today that have no idea who Rev. Wright is are probably watching TV networks and living a culture where it's not only cool but patriotic to say "G D America" and they are beyond conversion.

If this were Obama's first time running for President and it were Romney instead of McCain, I would feel the same as I did in 2008 - disgusted with the republican candidate.

It's 2012 now. Today's Rev Wright is Eric Holder

Well, we can agree to disagree. I don’t think it is harmful in any way to remind people of who Obama is. It doesn’t help him or hurt Romney.

To the exclusion of all other issues? Of course not.

But to say we should take it off the table? That is squeamish and reeks of the typical “play nice” RINO stupidity, which has gotten us exactly where we are.

I don't think it should be taken off the table all together and yes there's nothing wrong with reminding people. I just think it's too late to make it a major issue by the candidate.

Rev Wright was McCain's failure.

Unfortunately I think Romney will follow the same path on the Rev Wrights of 2012. That's what frustrates us all and rightfully so. He is no different than McCain.

That's where I do agree with you.
