When news emerged of Eugene Terreblanche's violent death in April 2010, South Africa braced itself for racial tensions.

The red and black swastika-like banners of the Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (Afrikaner Resistance Movement - AWB) - the white supremacist movement that the bearded giant once led - waved menacingly at television cameras amid calls for revenge.

It felt like a chilling return to the late 1980s

Part of the reason there was no war is because many if not most young whites have left South Africa, because they can freely travel to Canada, the UK and Australia.

Supposedly up to one million White South Africans left the country after the dismantling of Apartheid in 1994.

You can leave if you have British Commonwealth citizenship. The UK can’t count how many Afrikaners have come to the UK because they don’t count as “immigrants”, just citizens moving in an out. They also travel freely to Canada and Australia. The only challenge is liquidating property and trying to get the money out of the country.
But the younger people are leaving, because the population structure of Caucasians in South Africa shows a huge disappearance of young adults.
