Public Policy Polling is out with a new survey this morning on the gay marriage referendum likely to be on the Maryland ballot this fall.
It's historic, because it shows that Maryland is likely to pass—by a wide margin—the referendum holding up the bill that lawmakers passed in late February. It's incredible because of the shift in previous polls, particularly among black voters in Maryland.
Check out this flip: In March, 56 percent of black respondents said they would vote against the law, with only 39 percent supporting it. Now, 55 percent of black voters plan to support it, with only 36 percent opposing it.
That's a 36-point swing in two months.

It shows the effect that a string of recent endorsements is having on voters, first from President Obama before other politicians and groups followed suit.

Disgraceful. I am almost embarassed for blacks in this country at this point who worship this con man.
We need to return to the Founder’s vision that only people who own property can vote. They can be women; they can be black; but citizens should have to have a piece of land or a profitable business to vote. Owners who are spouses can confer voting rights to stay-at-home partners for a period of years during active childrearing or retirement.
The only effect Obama COMING OUT for gay marriage created was that the Blacks support for Obama went from 99.9% to only a meager 99.8%.....

Agreed. Baltimore is a cesspool. I grew up in Western Maryland and can say everything West of Frederick is more conservative and Christian than the Eastern part. Hopefully the people who would support this don't turn out to vote.

The Party line now is that being against gay marriage is a betrayal of The One.
The Democratic party has seen to it that black society is absolutely dependent on the government and happy to be so. The party uses black leaders to influence and sway opinion in the desired direction. And that direction is: race loyalty is number one and everything else comes second.
The Democratic leadership has decided that the new official black position is Pro gay marriage. Black Americans will fall into line. They HAVE to. It's ingrained in them now. After all, the whole world wants them dead except for the Democratic party, right? They must be loyal Democrats. They can't refuse. All their deepest beliefs must be tossed aside if that's what it takes to show their solidarity. They will now adopt the pro gay marriage agenda. Their pastors will adopt the pro gay marriage agenda. They must vote for Obama. A vote for Obama is a vote for their momma, their uncles, their cousins, their families.
Are you black? Do you want to stay a member of the family? Then adopt the new position. Look at all we've done for you. We love you. Aren't you grateful to us? We need your support. Just do this for us. We'll have your back. We'll make it up to you later. Hey, we sent you to college. We made sure you got that home loan. Without us you'd be nothing. If not for us white people would still call you n*****s and beat you in the street. You owe us everything. All we ask is that you accept gay marriage. Is that so hard? Don't you love us? We love you...

This is so true. I have a few very Christian black friends who can recite the Bible chapter and verse but no matter what 0bama does, they support him. I confront them with 0’s position on abortion/partial birth and they said “these women just have to have a choice”. I say why can’t they choose to keep their legs closed?
