Santorum endorses Ted Cruz in Texas Senate race
ABC News ^ | May 24, 2012 | Rachel Rose Hartman

Texas Senate candidate Ted Cruz on Thursday gained yet another high-profile endorsement, this time from Rick Santorum.

"Ted Cruz is spellbinding, a tremendous orator and principled," Santorum said on Glenn Beck's radio show Thursday morning, according to Santorum's staff. "We need people who can motivate and lead … Ted has that capability."

Santorum reportedly said Cruz, a former state solicitor general, is a "good, conservative vote" and can "engage" beyond taxes and spending.

Santorum repeated much of the same praise during an appearance on Dallas radio station WBAP, telling host Ben Ferguson that he's known Cruz for 5 or 6 years and regards him as a "dynamic individual" who can act as a strong advocate in the Senate.

I hope Cruz gets the nod in Texas next Tuesday (or at least forces a runoff, and Greg Sowards in New Mexico the following Tuesday.

There was a news item on local TV about early voting in the county. Something like 2700 Republicans have voted, while 257 have voted in the Democrat primary.

It’s a good thing.

Statewide early voting appears to be down based upon articles I’ve seen. The total in the top 15 counties are running less than 5% both in person/mail as opposed to close to 15% in 2008. I think the lack of a strong presidential primary in either party is influncing the turnout. JMO.

Top 15;

Our family all voted last week and all voted for Cruz. I, too, did not vote for Romney.

Will be interesting to see the results of our primary election. Pete Olson is running for re-election as our Congressman. His campaign literature promises all kinds of wonderful things if he is re-elected. I asked him why they hadn’t taken care of business during the last two years since we have had a Republican majority in the House. Still waiting for answer! In the meantime I voted for his opponent, Barbara Carlson, a good conservative opponent. Doubt that she will win but maybe enough people will vote for her that Pete will get the message.

Well, I suppose that Santorum is sort of a Huckabee equalizer: social conservative Christians with an tendency toward government solutions. I think Cruz still has the Palin trump card though.

I enthusiastically voted for Cruz earlier today.

We Conservatives are a small voting block, but since Romney is probably going to lose in a very close election, we are an ESSENTIAL voting block to the RNC.

If the RNC wants to win the 2012 National Presidential and Congressional Election, they must have our full support.

We impressed the RNC with our 2010 efforts, but the RNC has done NOTHING to put the values of our 89 Warriors into effect.

We now hold the balance of power, IF WE INSIST ON AN OPEN CONVENTION.

Without an Open Convention the GOP-E will choose weak Candidate Romney to lose to Obama, just like they did with lame-brain McCain in 2008.

If the RNC overrules their own Primary Rules, then there is the POSSIBILITY that the Delegates will choose a stellar Conservative Dark Horse that we can promote with vigor to topple Dictator (in his own mind) Obama.

Ponder these ideas, chat with others, and let’s visit again on this unique opportunity to not only beat Obama, but slaughter Obama AND his Marxist ideas in a massive, landslide, Republican election.

Even on the VERY slim chance that Romney squeaks by Obama in November, the Federal problems we have today will be worse in 4 years with Romney as POTUS.

If the RNC wants to win this election, they need us. Let us bring that fact to their attention by a vigorous, grass-roots Campaign for an OPEN Convention.

What say all of you?

Small??

We now hold the balance of power, IF WE INSIST ON AN OPEN CONVENTION

Sorry Romney will get the win. Am I sad, yes but read my tagline...we need to help DEFEAT Barry!! Voting AGAINST Romney will not hurt the GOP, it'll HURT our FREEDOMS.

Dictator (in his own mind) Obama.

he is... and if CONSERVATIVES (especially SOCIAL) stay home...he might become a DICTATOR for life. Think about what would happen if DICTATOR BARRY get re-elected...

3 new SCOTUS judges... (can you say MARXIST JUDGES?) If you think Sotomeyer is bad, think about if you get someone to the left of her??? The SCOTUS judges are for life...so it won't be just 4 years... it'll be there for many years AFTER Zero left (by election or death).

Even on the VERY slim chance that Romney squeaks by Obama in November, the Federal problems we have today will be worse in 4 years with Romney as POTUS.

Someone said that most FR members wouldn't ELECT Reagan if they knew his record as CA's Governor. reagan wasn't that CONSERVATIVE as CA's governor, but we are still trying to find one. Romney is the only candidate who can win (besides Obama) any other votes will help ZERO become DICTATOR for life!!

If the RNC wants to win this election, they need us. Let us bring that fact to their attention by a vigorous, grass-roots Campaign for an OPEN Convention.

It is too late...Romney got it wrapped up.

What say all of you?

Read my tagline -- if you want to vote third party -- go right ahead -- you are a closet ZERO SUPPORTER!!

In many ways, the Lt. Gov. is more powerful than the Governor.

Under Perry and Dewhurst’s leadership:
We still have in state tuition's for kids of illegals.

Still have porous borders.

Still have sanctuary cities throughout Texas.

Still have ridiculously high property taxes on homeowners.

Still moving forward with the insane network of Texas toll roads.

I'll give credit where credit is due however. We have the best economy of the states and we are pro-buisness in our policies. One such is tort reform.

I have been very disappointed in Pete.

Mind your manners, Newbie.

You want to vote for that Catholic Church (and other morally conservative churches too) persecuting, baby-killing, marriage destroying, gun grabbing, elitist POS Romney who BOUGHT the GOP nomination with relentless libels and slanders against each and every actual conservative candidate, and expressed not a single reason why any actual conservative should be caught dead or alive voting for him??? Do it. That's your right.

BUT, do not presume to lecture actual conservatives for vomiting the POS out of our mouths or denying him access altogether. The conservative job this year was #1 defeat Romney, then and ONLY then, #2 defeat Obozo. Romney is about to be nominated. THEN he will be punished. Right now, Robamney is trailing in Taxachusetts by a full 25%. He seems quite likely to lose all of New England, California, Oregon, Washington. Nevada, Hawaii, New Mexico, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, and a host of other states with "moderate" (read full-throated leftist) excuses for "Republicans."

Not even for you or other possible Romney backers, am I or anyone I influence, going to vote for someone with a demonstrated track record of persecuting my Church, obsessively killing babies, cheerleading rump-ranging posing as "marriage," gun grabbing and all the rest of the elitist sc*mbag agenda. I have voted for each and every GOP POTUS candidate starting with Nixon in 1968. NEVER AGAIN for the likes of Ford, Bush the Elder, Dole or McCain, at the very least.

The handle has broken off my nose. I don't care who Myth's running mate will be. I will vote against both serial liar Myth and serial liar Obozo and I will not change. I will vote for Tom Hoefling (FR's own Eternal Vigilance, my respected Iowa brother in Christ who does not sell his soul any more than I do any more). If you or any other knee-jerk Republican want my vote in this or any other election, be ready to EARN it the old-fashioned way by nominating actual conservative candidates who refuse to behave like Robamney ALWAYS has. I don't care HOW rich he is. Wealth will NOT get my vote. SOCIAL CONSERVATISM, FOREIGN POLICY INTERVENTONISM, 2nd Amendment RTKBA (Romney needs a Constitution and some reading lessons and a conservative BACKBONE). If Muffy and the spoiled girls at the Junior League or Skipper down at the polo club were hoping for a Republican POTUS to grow their trust funds and idle wealth (often invested in moving jobs to Bangladesh), toooooo bad. If they don't like it, they can lump it.

If Obozo drastically raises their taxes (about 240th on my personal list of priorities), maybe they won't spend all that cash buying GOP nominations and buying the GOP itself.

As you will certainly find out in November, conservatives are NOT a small voting block whatever the folks at your stock brokers' office and you may think.

As far as your tagline is concerned, Robamney = Obozo = Moloch = Obozo = Robamney. You bet that voting against Robamney will hurt the elitist anus crowd who are running the GOP. That is the POINT! If those imbeciles don't get the message, the party needs to be destroyed as promptly as possible and replaced. Rule or ruin! No quarter! If they want actual conservative votes, they had better dump Romney. If they won't, the results are on them. The constitution has been rather thoroughly wrecked already. I can be restored but not under leftist spineless unprincipled trash like Myth. You should have thought about your freedoms

Most FReepers would most certainly elect Ronaldus Maximus. I think a dead Reagan would make a far better POTUS than either Obozo OR Myth. I was one of his state chairmen when he challenged brainless uberRINO Gerald Ford. We spent 16 years electing Reagan and NEVER had to apologize for him as in: Oh, I know that Myth is a POS but he is OUR POS! Puhleeze!

Also, Puhleeze with the tired old argument of 3 SCOTUS judges meaning that voting Myth is a necessity. First, how many justices did Carter appoint? Myth's judges would be NO BETTER than Obozo's. Stop lying to yourself. Your idiot has a track record and it is NOT pretty. If the entire SCOTUS were killed in one plane crash, GOP senators with backbone would leave the Court WITHOUT any justices at all rather than confirm Obozo's nominees OR Myth's as necessary. Just because they might be GOP nominees means nothing. What do David "Swish" Souter, Sandra Day O'Connor, John Paul Stevens, Lewis Powell, William Brennan and Earl Warren and, worst of all, Herod Blackmun, have in common??? GOP elitist trashbags each and every one. No thanks. With Obozo in office, the current GOP justices will resist resignation. They might be dimwitted enough to trust Myth. Control the Senate Judiciary Committee and a voting majority of the Senate and Obozo's nominees can be stopped. Tell the Lindsay Grahams, the John McCains, the Susan Collins types, the LAMAR!!! Alexanders, the Bob Corkers et al., that the game is up and that their next vote for ANY Obozo judge much less justice will end their careers.

I am not wasting time kissing elitist patoot for an open convention. If you and the other reflexive Republicans can actually deliver on that, let me know after you have. Meanwhile, many of us will be the ones who say NO to Obozo and to Myth. AND, don't characterize my vote. Voting against BOTH of these leftist menaces is voting AGAINST both of these menaces and not voting for Obozo. I don't owe the GOP a damn thing. The GOP owes me for 44 years of generally loyal voting. I intend to collect.

America needs a CONSERVATIVE major party. One way or another, WE WILL HAVE ONE.

If you are willing to vote for the Massachusetts trashbag, get used to a diet of crap sandwiches and an early death of the GOP like its Know Nothing, Whig and Federalist greedhead ancestors. IF Obama is elected, the GOP senators (whose numbers WILL be increased in 2012 to majority and 2014 to supermajority) should prove their mettle by denying Obozo's judicial and other appointments, suing his ass off at every opportunity (and he provides so many), denying Obozo his allowance, denying increases in the debt limit, balancing the budget whether he likes it or not, defunding Obozocare (which is about the same as Romneycare) and destroying his presidency BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY short of criminal or violent means.

Regardless of which of Robamney or Obozo is elected, the good news is that at least one will be beaten. I get to celebrate that on election night along with a lot of electorally improved Senate seats, a Senate Majority, a continued House Majority (hopefully ideologically improved by far). Whether Obozo or Myth were to be elected, the RESISTANCE starts on election night and does not rest until the winner is destroyed. That is a more effective message than any ever delivered via Western Union.

Does your screen name mean you are a former citizen of Connecticut? I am.

Good luck on that open convention and then on nominating a worthy candidate. Without BOTH of those being achieved, I am gone on the POTUS level for 2012 and until the GOP nominates a worthy candidate. That's it.

The RNC will NEVER support, honor or embrace Conservatives/Tea Partiers.

They have shown NO appreciation for what we did to elect Conservatives in 2010 and they never will. In fact they have nothing but contempt for us.

I don’t see how an open convention works...please explain if you see light there.

Meanwhile, we should have zero expectations of the GOP. They have thrown us under the bus and it’s up to us to divorce ourselves from them as they will continue to do so.

We the People are the only ones who can save our Republic. Never depend on anyone or anything else to rescue you. They will let you down every time.

Scr*w the Republican Party.
I’m glad Ronald Reagan isn’t here to see what a despicable bunch of elitist Rino arse kissers they have become.
They don’t represent my values, beliefs or principles.
I choose God, the Constitution and the other founding documents as my only reliable sources of strength.
