The Union would have won the war in short order with far less casualties if they weren't so stupid. The South would have procured lever action also. It would have been an escalation.

The South didn’t have the industrial capacity to match the Union’s arms manufacturing and they certainly wouldn’t have been able to purchase arms from Colt or Winchester.
