Sunday column ping

Worry not, freeloaders

Uncle Omar and Auntie Zeituni and all the rest of their fellow freeloaders and illegal aliens can relax — I mean, even more than they’ve already been relaxing all these years.

The state is going to do absolutely nothing to disturb their lifelong vacations at the expense of American taxpayers. In the state Senate’s budget deliberations last week, no serious proposal to reform the EBT card program by restricting the freeloaders’ access to cash could garner more than 13 votes.

Thirteen out of 40, and that was the max. Two other motions got eight and 11 votes, respectively. It was a landslide for the loafers.

Of course, the Democrats did propose some reforms of their own. With 20,000 cards a month “lost,” the Department of Transitional Assistance is instructed to begin sending notices to everyone who “loses” more than three cards a year. The non-workers will be sternly informed that the state will “monitor future requests for replacement cards.”

That should put the fear of God in ’em, right?

You’ve heard the stories — excuse me, anecdotes — about illegal aliens in public housing? The Republicans put in an amendment to strike all illegals from the waiting lists, which have 100,000 or more people on them.

Not allow illegals into public housing? How mean-spirited, how nativist, how xenophobic, how racist.

When the Democratic leadership got through with it, here’s how the public-housing amendment read:

“(Anyone) who does not reside in the U.S. under color of law shall not be given priority over or otherwise displace an applicant who has such status.”

In other words, an American. That was the compromise — Americans will not be forced to the back of the waiting list by foreign freeloaders. This is what passes for a taxpayer victory (however temporary) in the State House, although you can be sure that the “immigration advocates” will eventually kill it. What kind of racist nation have we become when an illegal alien can’t cut in line in front of the stupid gringos?

Another source of dozens of anecdotes — illegal aliens on the roads, often drunk, often reckless. Many of them have cars thanks to the RMV’s “X” registration, which enables illegal aliens to register cars without having a license or IDs of any sort. All they need is a certificate of insurance. A Senate amendment would require that anyone registering a car in Massachusetts provide “proof of legal residence.”

How dare they! Gov. Deval Patrick will make short work of this assault on diversity.

In the city of Milford alone, three U.S. citizens have been killed in recent years by “New Americans” driving without licenses. They don’t worry too much about no stinkin’ drunken-driving laws either, right Uncle Omar?

Anyway, the Senate decided to increase the penalties for first-offense driving without a license from $100 to $500 and second offense, from $500 to $1000.

“The only problem,” said state Sen. Bob Hedlund (R-Weymouth), “is that I’m afraid it’s going to hit more American kids than illegals, because so many police departments have stopped writing up illegals because they always just blow off the court dates.”

If I ever get in a jam, I ask for no special favors. Just treat me like an illegal alien, like Uncle Omar or Auntie Zeituni.

btw I posted the Wed & Thu column Howie did on a thread about the poss. replacement of the Felon by Kim Carrigan, rather than this thread...

Breitbart, the latest from Michael Lahey. Howie picked a fine time to take a vacation week (also: Moveon.org may move on from funding Warren; “Democrats Boo Reporters Who Question Warren on Cherokee Claims at Patrick Promo” etc.
Even Menino is shocked, shocked that Patrick made
an endorsement now.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/05/31/warren-confesses-told-harvard-she-was-woman-of-color

Last night, Elizabeth Warren finally admitted to the Boston Globe that she lied when she made previous statements that she had “no idea” why Harvard Law School referred to her as a “woman of color.” Ms. Warren confessed that she told Harvard Law School when she was hired as a Visiting Professor in 1992 that she was a “woman of color.”

Ms. Warren’s shocking revelation, after weeks of stonewalling and denying her complicity in Harvard’s numerous false public statements about her heritage, reverberated through a formerly friendly mainstream media this morning.

Michele McPhee formerly of WRKO is hinting at a big announcement...some rumors (radio-info.com) say she’s
heading to AM 1200 (one post said this could be a sure
sign, more local hosts, that they’d like to simulcast on
FM etc.) while on Michele’s facebook people are guessing
that she’s getting the Finneran position on RKO

Flipping Liz Warren’s credibility flops
By Howie Carr | Friday, June 1, 2012 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Columnists

If there’s anything Granny Warren hates more than a fake Indian or a plagiarist, it’s one of these damn real-estate speculators buying up the hammered middle class’ homes and flipping them for big bucks.

Unless, of course, Granny is the hypocrite conniving with the banks to do the hammering and the hacking.

Granny wrote in 2000 that foreclosure sales “are notorious for fetching low prices.” And boy, would she know.

Here’s a foreclosed property she picked up in Oklahoma City at 2123 NW 14th St. for $4,000 in 1993. She transferred it to her brother and his wife in March 2004 and they sold it for $30,000 in February 2006.

Those kinds of returns make you a 1 percenter like Granny. That, and cashing in on a racial spoils system you have no business taking advantage of.

The prior owners of the $4,000 house were Richard and Shelley Walter, who had a son who served as a Marine in Iraq. I wonder if they’ve read Granny’s impassioned attacks on foreclosures: “Foreclosure rates are skyrocketing. Is it a civil right to lose that home in a sheriff’s auction?”

It is if Granny Warren’s picking up some good stuff cheap, a la Bain Capital. Let’s move on to another foreclosure, this one on 500 NW 18th St. in her hometown. She’s listed as the mortgagee on a $55,000 mortgage taken out by her brother John in 1992.

In 1998, John Herring sold the foreclosed house for $140,000.

The people who lost their home this time to greedy Granny were D.L. and Sue Trent. At least they can take solace in the fact that the former Elizabeth “Red” Herring feels their pain: “Thus foreclosures harm other homeowners both by encouraging additional foreclosures by reducing home sale prices, while decreased property values hurt local businesses and reduce state and local tax revenues.”

Lieawatha bragged last fall that she provided the “intellectual foundations” of the national crime wave known as Occupy Wall Street. Everyone assumed she was talking about her turgid prose, not her own wheeling and dealing in the misery of the middle class.

In her book “All Your Worth,” the 32/32nds white woman says it is a myth that “you can make big money buying houses and flipping them quickly.” Really?

A message left with the Warren campaign was not returned.

The lesson here is, not everything you read is true. For instance, your mother probably told you, “Cheaters never prosper.” Your mother never knew Granny Warren.
