Much has been said, here at American Thinker and elsewhere, about Barack Obama's recent pair of teleprompted references to his (presumably) non-existent sons.
Thomas Lifson toys with the notion that Obama might in fact have secret sons, as a way of making sense of the seeming insanity of it. Selwyn Duke suggests it might indicate brain damage from Obama's (presumably) past drug use. (Funny, isn't it, how often one is left no choice but merely to presume about the Cipher-in-Chief.) David Paulin asks whether Obama might be the victim of a teleprompting prankster/saboteur.
All of these are reasonable speculations -- which is, in itself, reason to be perturbed about America's current devolved state. However, I would like to throw one more possibility into the mix, more straightforward, but no less bizarre, than the others. I believe it is likely that Obama compared the future prospects of "my daughters" to that of "my sons" precisely according to a sincerely prepared and carefully vetted script.
Watching the two instances on video, it is clear that he does not blink in either case, suggesting that he doesn't think he is making an error. True, he didn't blink when he heard himself talking about 57 states, either. But of course that one could plausibly be chalked up to genuine ignorance. After all, why should a 47 year-old man, serving as one of the 100 elected members of a body comprised of exactly 2 people from each U.S. state, himself famously (and presumably) born in the 50th state, and running for President, necessarily know how many states there are?

Interesting article; but, all I can say, being the poor dumb schlub I am, is that the election of this dangerous, extremely ideological leftist oaf shows how much this country has deteriorated and/or fallen away from a good ethic.

Obama thinks he is the godObama of the United States. Therefore, he can speak of his daughters and sons. They are all of godObama’s children.
Call me a tinfoil hatter but I’ve always had a very hard time believing that Obama #1 on the left and Obama #2 on the right are the same individual. Facial structure, coloration, especially something about the eyes and nose, there’s really only a superficial resemblance.
I’ve all but concluded that our President has doubles, just one more step on the way to banana republic status.

He seems to be in a fatalistic haze. He’s going through the motions, reading his lines, etc...but is resigned to the fact that not as many people love him anymore.
I’m sure he realized his mistake...but really didn’t care.
Why should he? He could make much worse mistakes (in reality he has - look at the economy); and, his true believers would still love him. He has determined that the veracity of what comes out of his mouth absolutely does not matter....as long as it ‘sounds good’ on the way out.
The one in the middle is a composite of the ones on the ends.
I have two sons and no daughters. If I were reading a speech, and encountered the phrase “my two daughters” I would correct it either in stream without the audience ever hearing the word “daughters” or immediately after the fact.
Besides, who cares so little for their audience that they don’t pre-read their speech?
Honestly, I think Obama was on autopilot as he read the teleprompter and made the errors for whatever psychological reasons. He often sounds as though he is bored out of his skull with the whole business of being President and sick of speechifying in front of people he seems to not respect. In any case, we can only guess at the reasons for the errors and maybe vent a little of our unhappiness occasionally online while we pace around the room and wait for November. Heck - I would even vote for Romney to get Obama out. But I will still be wishing I could have voted for Newt again in November.

I think this is much ado about nothing. Referring to everybody as “sons and daughters” is the same as referring to people to whom one is not related as “bothers and sisters.” It’s just ghetto slang most folks don’t use. And we already know Obama is a rich member of the ghetto culture.
