I often think that same thing about our Judeo-Christian framework. There are many things that we do not know about some non-Christian cultures which are sometimes lost is the lure of the exotic. India has a big problem with murder of wives who cannot pay their dowry. They are doused in kerosene and set on fire and this is chalked up to a simple kitchen fire. Callous. Then remember the old practice of forcing the widow to throw herself on her husband’s funeral pyre.
Now we have honor killings (and Muslim polygamy) in the US; they had a fire a few years back in NYC in which various children & women died, and it turned out it was like a 3 family house in which one Muslim West African had different wives (with their respective broods) living in each apartment.
